Overall Satisfaction with Scale Computing Platform

We use it to host primarily our Windows Server environment along with some Unix/Linux based systems. It provides a host infrastructure for roughly 2 dozen Vm's. We were looking for a cheaper, US-based support virtual host platform that wasn't overly complex and easily administered
  • Price Performance
  • Easy Administration
  • US-Based Support
  • Migration Tools - Uses Third Party software to implement
  • Lack of third-party backup tools that are industry standard
  • Reduce the friction from migrating from Vmware to Scale
Excellent. We always can reach someone by phone. In some cases though, you need to schedule certain requests on their calendar so it could take a little longer to get migration going or resolve an integration problem with any 3rd party software.
We have not implemented this feature yet. We do have a multi-node cluster.
  • The combined hardware and software through a systems integrator really saved us a lot of capital expense.
  • We have a predictable cost associated with this project for the next 5 years.
  • This product seems lot more efficient with the hardware thus reducing the need for massively expensive host configurations.
Cheaper, better, us-based support. Easier Administration. Lacks 3rd party backup and disaster recovery (bare-metal) A lot of people just have never heard of Scale Computing Platform so it's tough to figure out what the best on-prem, cloud-based DR services to use.

Do you think Scale Computing Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Scale Computing Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Scale Computing Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Scale Computing Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Scale Computing Platform again?

Yes

If you're using some of the latest Windows OS's, you'll be fine. If you're looking to upgrade those while in the process of migrating - consider building a new image and migrating the data/services manually. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to upgrade an VM's OS. Scale Computing Platform does well with almost all Operating Systems. We haven't run into any hardware or software incompatibilities moving from Vmware. We wanted to do VDI for a lot less money but the jury is out on whether Scale Computing Platform + GPU cards are going to be enough for things like Adobe Creative cloud in a lab of 30 terminals.
