Overall Satisfaction with ScreenConnect
It is being used for remote support, mainly for established contract customers, but also for on-demand customers. The main problem it addresses is fixing PC/server issues without having to be onsite. But we've been very happy with extra features such as file transfer. I hadn't expected that I'd have features like applying shell commands in bulk as well as the basic reporting features (installed programs, running processes, etc). These have proved very useful.
Pros
- Very robust and reliable remote access, sessions can survive reboots.
- Good reporting on the remote system - see OS, CPU, RAM at a glance. Installed software, running processors and events can be viewed through free add-ons.
- Run shell commands from the browser to one or many PCs.
- One-off support sessions are very easy to set up and there are several different methods to choose from - all very simple for regular users to give you access to their PCs.
Cons
- I think the desktop screenshot shown in the "general" tab presents a privacy issue. I think I should at least have to click to see that.
- It has allowed us to give all customers always-on remote support facility, without having to worry about extra subscription charges.
- Some extra features (shell commands) have had a time-saving effect on major rollouts, such as a new domain, Office 365 and antivirus.
We were happy with LogMeIn Central as it was robust. But, every year it got more and more expensive, so I started looking for alternatives. ScreenConnect was reasonably priced and was recommended on forums so having tested it for robustness, we went with that. Now, we see that it isn't just cheaper, it has a lot more functionality.
