Overall Satisfaction with Smartsheet

Smartsheet is used in the project management department. Its main objective is to manage project timelines, produce visualizations, automate updates. The features are utilized to be both internally and externally facing. While it is used to manage projects and resources from an internal perspective, it is also shared with clients and project stakeholders.

  • Aha! and Google Drive
Smartsheet has more features than Google Sheets but is more cumbersome to use. Aha! allows users to more visually apply tasks and tickets to corresponding topics and timelines.

Smartsheet is a happy medium of easy to use for fundamental timeline management with added features/functionality for more advanced users or complicated scenarios.

It is easy to share but there is some friction outside of the organization who do not use Smartsheet. Then it must be exported to Excel.

A specific scenario in which Smartsheet is well suited is for creating project timelines that follow the waterfall management methodology. It is quick to create milestones, define dependencies, and assign resources. It is also well suited for project updates to quickly change dates due to unforeseen delays.

A scenario in which Smartsheet is less appropriate is for assigning corresponding tickets or tasks that accompany a timeline or milestone.
