Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

We currently use SolarWinds to monitor mounted storage in our VMware environment.
  • Very powerful and configurable.
  • Very difficult to get alerts configured quite right
  • Very little troubleshooting options available if an alert doesn't fire as expected
  • n/a
SAM is more "Enterprise-y", WhatsUp Gold is more useful.
With some extensive tweaking, it is quite useful at monitoring VMware and Windows services.
