Overall Satisfaction with SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager

We used it to monitor our SSIS and SSRS environments for a few years company wide. We had it to go along with our SQL Diagnostics Manager product so we could have an end to end monitoring solution for our entire environment.
  • Types of alerts
  • Dashboard view
  • Configurable Alerts
  • Not the most intuitive product
  • The basic features are easy to use, the more advanced features are more difficult to use than they should be
  • Drill Down is clunky
  • Being a small shop with a small SQL Server BI footprint it was not worth the price
For our small environment, we already had Idera SQL Diagnostics manager so we felt like that would be good enough and not pay for the extra licensing. If we had a bigger BI footprint, we could certainly have had a good business case for it.

Do you think SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager's feature set?

Yes

Did SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SQL Server Business Intelligence Manager again?

Yes

I could see if you had a large staff and a large SQL Server BI footprint this could be a very good tool. Being a small shop we found that it was not worth it. For a small shop, we had good enough monitoring with SQL Diagnostics Manager built in tools with SSIS / SSRS / SSAS along with building out a few tools on our own.
