Overall Satisfaction with Submittable

Submittable helps us to receive, organize and review requests for grants to other non-profit organizations. We typically receive between one and two influxes of submissions each year. We have an advisory board who are geographically spread out across 4 time zones, who all use Submittable to conduct their reviews. We probably have reviewed close to 1,000 submissions through Submittable.
  • Easy submission for applicants
  • Useful functions for remote group discussion during review
  • Simple tools for categorizing, storing and organizing submissions
  • Once your Submittable subscription ends, you lose access to all stored information
  • It is not intuitive to move documents from Submittable into other software
  • The cost is high compared to some other data storage systems (Drive, Microsoft One)
  • Submittable has helped us to work together as a team from a distance (saving us the time and money of coming together)
  • Submittable helped us launch! As we began our project Submittable was perfect simply to begin.
  • Our experience with Submittable customer service was very good, and we saved time solving problems with their help.
Submittable is very user friendly. Even our less tech-savvy team members were able to navigate Submittable and achieve what was necessary. The single limitation is that it is not easy to move information/documents/applications from the Submittable platform into other platforms, or even to download documents from Submittable into a separate storage system.
Submittable has helped us to fulfill our intention for our applicants and awardees to have a simple and streamlined experience. This has indeed helped us to build stronger relationships with our grantees because it has helped us to build trust. We never used a reporting feature through Submittable, but my impression is that feature is also reliable and simple.
The Google suite of services is essentially free, but it is not designed specifically for applicants, reviewers and awardees. However, it is very intuitive and user friendly. We have been able to make both services work for us and meet our particular needs. Google saves money, and Submittable saves time.

Yes

Did Submittable live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Submittable go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Submittable again?

No

Submittable is really great for the core service of what it is designed for: providing a platform for applications to be reviewed across time and distance. The fees are competitive when compared with some services. At the same time, for those organizations that only receive a few applications, or which are looking to save money, there are other methods of accomplishing the same goal. My recommendation to any group would turn on their specific needs and resources.
