Overall Satisfaction with Symantec VIP
Symantec VIP was used by our Customer Service Department as we work in the Health Care Pharmacy Business. It is used to add an additional layer of security for our users accessing third-party applications, workstations, and servers in the cloud. It is used to protect PHI and PII by adding security and safety. All software has to be FIPS-140-2 and approved by the organization through a validation procedure before being used in our organization. Symantec VIP provides a secure token to connect to a VPN client and access the private organizational network. It is pretty easy to set up and use.
- UI is concise and simple. We have no issue using VIP for VPN Access as it is simple and fast. Required buttons are right in front and avoid any ambiguity.
- It is fast! There is no lag or waiting for a pin number to be generated.
- Notification: Each pin generated times out in 30-60 seconds, which is excellent and provides another layer of security.
- Setup was also pretty easy and fast. We have had no issues.
- User Interface is small and there is no option to change this. Which is not a problem for most users but there have been a few complaints.
- Add an option of dynamically resizing the GUI. Not a major issues but would help aging eyes.
- Offline Token would be a great addition.
- Security was improved
- Can connect to the private organizational applications, resources network easily which saves time
- Support and setup are good
- Excellent knowledge base and documentation is well written.
Symantec VIP compares really well to other alternatives but there is no offline token key. This is a features the competitors are starting to offer which makes a difference in the event the user has forgotten their token or there is an issue with the online verification.
