Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite)* is being used by the communications department only. Cision helps us to track all of our media coverage during a specific time each year. We use it to capture op-eds that we've placed, as well as earned media coverage. We share this information with our stakeholders using the widgets that Cision Communications Cloud provides.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Providing snapshots of social media influence and what is trending.
Comparing coverage month to month and year over year.
Capturing data in several different ways.

Cons

Cision is not comprehensive in capturing results.
It is cumbersome to enter articles that Cision misses.
Sometimes there is too much data when you're only looking for something specific.

Alternatives Considered

Cision PR Software

Cision Communications Cloud (with TrendKite) is heads above Cision PR Software (pre-TrendKite acquisition) in terms of the data you can gather from your campaigns. The widgets and reporting are extremely helpful. I think Cision PR Software may capture more articles that Cision Communications Cloud (TrendKite), but the edge goes to Cision Communications Cloud because of the amount of data gleaned and how you can slice and dice it and present it.

Likelihood to Recommend

Cision Communications Cloud does well in providing different ways you can capture and categorize data, which is really useful for reports. I like the social media influencer data, which is also very helpful. I would not depend solely on TrendKite to capture all articles. For example, I also use Google alerts, which sometimes found articles that Cision Communications Cloud did not pick up.

Transition from TrendKite to Cision Communications Cloud

Support Rating

Our team had Connor as a point of contact and he was very responsive. He and his team helped create searches, which was extremely useful, as many of us don't have a complete understanding of Boolean searches. He suggested things that might help in terms of capturing the articles we were looking for and was proactive in offering other programs or add-ons available through TrendKite that would help us track additional coverage (i.e. radio/tv).
