Overall Satisfaction with Turbonomic (formerly VMTurbo)
We use Turbonomic to properly place VMs in our environment and intend to use the fully automated features of rightsizing VMs in the future.
- VM placement
- VM automatted resizing
- Provides lots of stats on VMs in a quick to use interface
- UI could use updating (look and feel)
- UI technology (flash based)
- Reports/reporting (many canned reports, not that easy to create custom reports)
- It's been less than 1 year since purchase, and we don't have everything fully implemented yet; so ROI is still to be determined, but it has decreased alerts and saved time moving from different storage technologies. Overall it's very promising.
We're currently looking at how we need to change based on automated decision processes.
We have looked at vRealize Operations manager (vRops) and have used vFoglight. Those tools are more designed for alerting and reporting after the issue/incident. VMTurbo is intended to move things around and size VMs to reduce the number of alerts. They (vRealize Operations Manager and vFoglight) are the right tools for wrong job, VMTurbo is the right tool for the job.
