Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As an independent consultant, I used UberConference to connect with clients and other consultants. It provided an easy and free way to connect multiple individuals with the ability to share screens. It addressed the need to have a single dial-in solution without the cost or commitment of a long term contract (or any contract for that matter).

Screen sharing capabilities
Simple user interface

Screen sharing often hit technical difficulties
For those unfamiliar with the technology and joining from a computer versus the phone, they sometimes hit technical snags
Connection issues for screen sharing

Return on Investment

Free tool so no monetary investment
Very easy to set up so limited time investment
Technical difficulties do exist so best used for phone-only conferencing with the occasional screen share

Alternatives Considered

Zoom, RingCentral and Google Hangouts

Zoom and RingCentral do not have a free version, to my knowledge. The technology for both is good but requires a download which causes delays for new users, especially when working with multiple clients.

Google Hangouts is my go-to but many clients do not have access to Google at work. If you need to conference internally and use the Google suite, I recommend exploring Google Hangouts functionality.

Support Rating

I never had to contact support so I can't speak to the overall level of support that they provide. I will say that UberConference is fairly user-friendly (despite some technical snags in screen share) so support calls are likely kept to a minimum. Keep in mind that I was a single user, interacting with many clients but I was the only one initiating meetings.

Likelihood to Recommend

Great for disparate teams who don't need video and mostly need a conference line for phone calls. If you're looking for video-call functionality, UberConference is not the solution. If you need a ton of screen sharing, I would look elsewhere. That said, it worked well for my small business and our specific needs. There is no software to download so it makes welcoming new folks to the convo very easy.
