Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
We use Unitrends solution to back up most of our server environment, physical and virtual. When we began using Unitrends, we were using Novell OES and it was the only solution to fully support backup of this environment. Even though we moved away from OES, we continued to use Unitrends while we moved to Active Directory and virtualized our server environment. We found Unitrends to handle the mixed environment very well.
- Unitrends does very well where you want one platform and one solution to backup a mixed environment of physical and virtual servers.
- Having one support for all backup issues, whether it be hardware, software or some combination is very nice. That is great when you are having an issue that could be one or the other or both. No one is blaming another vendor's product.
- About the only hardware issue we have really had is the disk drives which have a limited lifetime so it's great to have hardware the does its job and the redundancy for the drives to get through a few failures there.
- I would like to see Unitrends figure out a way to backup servers with snapshots. I believe there may be some VMWare limitations but maybe they can push VMWare to help them work through them.
- I have seen a slight dip in technical support response and ability a few times and hope that was a exception I happened to encounter.
- Everyone must have a trusted backup solution and I believe Unitrends to be that.
They did not have a disk-based solution at the time and did not work very well so Unitrends blew their doors off.
