Overall Satisfaction with Unitrends Recovery Series Backup Appliance
We use Unitrends to back up our servers and other critical devices across the organization. We needed a backup solution that was reliable, low maintenance, could replicate offsite, and could support a variety of devices. Unitrends met the requirements we were looking at. Since implementing it we have been very pleased with the product.
- Backups are easy to set up. Once the schedule is set it just runs. A variety of devices and operating systems can be backed up making it a one stop solution.
- Replication to their offsite location works very well.
- Support is U.S. based and excellent. Whenever I have had to call for assistance the issue has been handled quickly. I also appreciate the proactive monitoring they provide, e.g. they may see a hard disk issue and will already be working on it before I even notice there's a problem.
- Only issue I think I can really mention is I feel we've been through a lot of account reps. Doesn't really impact our use of the appliance, just can be a little difficult when trying to find a point of contact when the rep keeps changing.
- The most positive impact is how quickly we have been able to restore data or entire servers with very little downtime and impact to our users.
- It is an expensive solution for the appliance plus maintenance but we feel the price is worth it.
We had a very old version of Symantec in place that Unitrends replaced. We didn't upgrade it because we were looking for a separate appliance for our solution. We did look at Barracuda briefly and have nothing against it, it's a good solution in it's own right, we just found more positive reviews for Unitrends and the initial support was so good we decided on them.
