Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We are using Veeam Backup & Replication to backup our virtual server environment. It is used by the IT department to complete this task. It helps us maintain a backup repository of all of our virtual servers. It addresses the main issue of file restoration and disaster recovery if necessary.
- File restoration - quick and easy way to restore any file on a server.
- Interface - simple and easy to navigate.
- Integration - works well with VMware and Dell storage appliances.
- Speed - network dependent but not always consistent backup speeds.
- SQL server backup - often times it will cause server services to stop responding.
- Retention policies - not straightforward to implement because a separate backup job is required.
- Saved time by quickly restoring files that used to take much longer using alternate backup methods.
- Reduced licensing costs from previous backup solution.
- Time is no longer wasted looking at continual backup failures.
Previously used AppAssure. It did not have a user-friendly interface and we had issues with failed backups. Various issues arose when using our Dell storage appliance which caused conflicts with the deduplication that AppAssure provided. In addition, the overall backup speeds were much slower and caused our backups to run longer than expected.
