Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

I use Veeam Data Platform to backup multiple VMs on multiple servers to a NAS and then out to a cloud repository for another level of protection. Veeam Data Platform is very easy to setup and to administer. They also have very good technical support. To say the least, I am very happy with Veeam Data Platform. I'm very impressed all around.

Pros

  • Backs up VMs
  • Moves backed up VMs from NAS to cloud backup partner
  • Monitoring / reporting of successes and failures of all actions

Cons

  • Sometimes the error messages are a bit ambiguous requiring tech support to clarify.
  • Not every scheduled backup works 100%. That said, I let it roll as the following one typically will.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • NAS filers
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • None of the above

I have multiple servers with multiple VMs. They are exactly what I purchased Veeam Data Platform for and exactly what Veeam Data Platform is doing. It is a few less now than initially spec-ed for because of some server optimization that has taken place. Still, unquestionably worth the investment!

  • Using Veeam Data Platform both saves the company money and gives me peace of mind which is priceless.
The trigger was your sales outreach. The previous solution was not nearly as reliable, it was costly, and did not provide literally total piece of mind. Now, we are saving money with a reliable solution that affords me a great peace of mind.
The benefit to the cloud aspect for us is insuring recovery if there is a site loss of any kind. We do not use or need some of the more advanced features.
All data via Veeam Data Platform is backed up to our NAS. The benefit is simply having the backup.
There are dozens of alternatives including just scripting full backups to a NAS, but nothing I have seen could possibly be better than the VEEAM solution that we currently have deployed.

I do not know about less appropriate but as far as well suited, Veeam Data Platform does an outstanding job with VM backup and restoration. Early on I had need to rebuild a server with four VMs and I was relying on Veeam Data Platform to come through and oh boy did it! Restoration was only a few clicks and quicker than I could have ever hoped for. If I had Veeam Data Platform / this version anyway some years ago, it would have paid for itself tenfold. My message to anyone with VMs: Get Veeam Data Platform!
