Overall Satisfaction with Viewpoint Spectrum
We have being using Spectrum since 2007 in all of the financial areas, including financial statements, a/p and subcontract management, a/r and project management, equipment control and tracking, job cost and work in process, human resources and payroll, fixed assets, and document management for the financial aspects of the business. The Spectrum product continues to excel and move forward to stay on the cutting edge of where software and data management is going.
- Document control and imaging: scanning and storing the respective documents, invoices, timesheets, contract change orders, etc. to facilitate quick viewing and or printing of info needed. All of the modules work seamlessly to provide information and documents from other modules
- In various modules (job cost, general ledger, etc) you can, through an inquiry mode, capture details and easily export/download to Excel to produce your own ad-hoc reports and research of data.
- The structure of the software works across all modules the same and shares/works with other products Viewpoint provides.
- The fixed asset module is less than it needs to be: there is room for improvement and it needs additional functionality
- Some of the functions that work in the main company do not work in a confidential payroll company—this needs to be addressed. For example, you cannot input equipment usage for an employee in the confidential payroll process you have to go to the main company and input this thru the equipment control module. In the same line, the bank reconciliations require you do one in each company for the confidential payroll bank account and both only contain part of the date (i.e., reg company has deposits, confidential payroll has employee checks).
- Ease of use in retrieving scanned images to provide the documents for something when required saving minutes to hours depending or where the physical documents are.
- Have kept jobs/ap, billings, costs, etc going back to the beginning of implementation and this makes it easy when required to capture and produce data/financial/job details, etc.
- The ease of use and training someone to use system (basics) makes it easier for new employees and saves time on training.
- When requested to complete or produce data it can be retrieved via info link or other aspects to create reports in excel or thru crystal reports saving time.
- The instant cost and information on projects as AP, payroll and other costs are updated to manage a project helps to stay on track and provide the project team with info.
