Overall Satisfaction with Visual Studio Test Professional

Visual Studio Test Professional is used by our Software Testers in our core product testing as well as our client specific customized studies. Visual Studio Test Professional allows our Testers to write and manage Test Plans, Test Suites and Test Cases as well as run manual and automated tests to assure the software is stable, works as intended and is bug free (or as close to bug free as possible!)
  • Visual Studio Test Professional when paired with Azure DevOps is the best solution for Test Case Management when compared to other Testing tools we've used in the past.
  • Test Results and Artifacts are always available with full traceablility for audits.
  • Testing and Release Management are tied together as one continuous pipeline.
  • Interface can be confusing.
  • Needs more shortcut keys.
  • Needs better export features, like exporting to Excel.
  • Visual Studio Test professional fits right in with the other Microsoft Lifecycle Management tools.
  • End to end, Development, Test, Deployment and Delivery assures the pipeline is continuous. Visual Studio Test Professional is an integral part of that pipeline.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Tools makes usability intuitive, makes it easy to ramp up our Testers.
Visual Studio Test Professional is head and shoulders above the other options we've tested and used in the past. Our Legacy teams were still using Quality Center as of a month ago and they just switched over to Microsoft Test Professional to join the rest of the organization in using the Microsoft tools.
Microsoft provides knowledgeable support, but it is pricey. Our Enterprise agreement allows for unlimited support. The assistance provided is good, but sometimes it can take a long time for the support representatives to get back to you if the issue isn't a severity 1 issue. They initially respond quickly, but once the ticket is open, the back and forth can be slow.
It is very usable if you are familiar with Visual Studio to begin with. If you are new to the interface, it can be a long ramp up period for Testers not used to the GUI. There is always the web option which seems to be more intuitive for many Testers.

Do you think Visual Studio Test Professional delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Visual Studio Test Professional's feature set?

Yes

Did Visual Studio Test Professional live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Visual Studio Test Professional go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Visual Studio Test Professional again?

Yes

If you're used to the Visual Studio IDE for coding, then it feels very natural using Visual Studio Test Professional. If you're not used to the GUI, then it does have a bit of a learning curve and then Testers might be better suited using the web interface. Both accomplish the same end results and the licensing covers both options.
