Overall Satisfaction with VMTurbo Operations Manager
It is currently being used by the IT Operations and Engineering team to manage workload across multiple hosts within our data centers. We are also using it to analyze capacity and future growth within the environment.
Pros
- Automating the moving around of systems for the best performance
- Its integration with Cisco UCS and SANs
- Quick & detailed data on hosts, guests, SAN, networking devices
- Ease of installation and deployment
Cons
- Capacity management could be more intuitive
- Reporting/Dashboards for executives could be easier to set up and maintain
- Since we have both vROPs and VMTurbo, not really a huge return on investment yet.
- Being able to monitor the system 24/7 and make intelligent decisions for workload migration is a huge asset for our operations team.
It has from an operational perspective, but we have gone down the route of auto deployment directly from within VMTurbo. It is something that we have looked at, and as we get more mature with the product, I am sure we will use this feature for certain workloads.
VMTurbo is easier to deploy and manage. It also has the capacity planner, which VMware vROPs doesn't have at this time.
