Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am using WatchGuard as the firewall to my network. It also manages my VPN. It has made it easy for my users to remote in.

It has prevented intrusions.
It helps prevent viruses from getting in my network.
I can setup multiple networks so my guest can access the Internet, but not see my physical network.

I have purchased through PCM. I usually get help from WatchGuard on what product is best for me.

Usability

I have only had a couple of intrusions over the years.

Very satisfied. I have been using WatchGuard for 18 years and have never had any hardware failures. The only failure I have had was a lightning strike last year and WatchGuard replaced the damaged box within one day without any cost to me.

WatchGuard Network Security Packaging and Licensing

It has simplified it, however it has also driven up the cost. I do wish that all the add-ons they provide were a little cheaper.

Alternatives Considered

Fortinet FortiGate

I have been approached by Fortinet and will be reviewing the 2 products at my renewal time. They installed a monitor on my network to scan for weaknesses in my network. Nothing notable was found.

Likelihood to Recommend

it works well if you have multiple locations and setup a firebox at each location.
