Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security

We are a partner with WatchGuard because we have used other solutions in the past and have settled on what we consider to be the best security appliance on the market. WatchGuard helps business owners not only manage their network but also manage their employee usage making for a more profitable environment.
  • First and foremost would be the UTM throughput meaning with the correct sized appliance (user count & Bandwidth requirements). This appliance will not throttle its users.
  • So many layers of defense to keep our clients safe from all the garbage the world has to offer.
  • Ease of use. Compared to other solutions, WatchGuard Network Security is the easiest to program and install.
  • WatchGuard is always looking into the future with added features like TDR for the Total Security Suite and other solutions like Secure WiFi and MFA.
  • Currently I can't think of anything that needs correcting. What I would hope for and I believe they are already looking into, is Fiber. Fiber is becoming more and more common.
  • In the past sizing the correct appliance was simply getting a "User" count the appliance would be dealing with as internet speeds were generally low (10Mbps - 80Mbps on average). Now with Fiber, I can have a small office (5-15 users) which normally would be a FireBox t35(w) but their internet fiber speed may be 500Mbps. Currently, the T35 would throttle them, so a small office would have to go with a minimum of T55/T70. I'm hoping as Fiber becomes more and more common so do the UTM throughput of the smaller appliances increases as well.
  • The heavy-duty T35R maybe coming out with a wireless model?
  • Positive - WatchGuard does what it says.
  • Negative - Total Security Suite is very expensive and is hard for me to sell over the Basic Security because it is too big a jump in price.
We are a partner, and purchase from a vendor to perform the required programming and installation ourselves.
We've used other solutions in the past and WatchGuard beat them out for simplicity/cost/user-friendliness.
It has made providing our clients a high level of protection very easy from a single appliance. 1-charge/multiple layers.
  • SonicWall Capture Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
As stated earlier, we chose it for more layers of protection from a single appliance. TDR, Intelligent AV, IPS, and all the other programs all built into WatchGuard.
About the only reason I can think of where a security suite would not be needed are those extremely small businesses like storage facilities who's business do not rely on internet. Every other type of business needs to protect themselves with a minimum of basic security. Places like hospitals, doctors offices, dental, chiropractic offices or anyone else who handles patient data per HIPAA compliance should be using every tool at their disposal to protect their patients' data and the best way to do that is with WatchGuard Network Security.
