Overall Satisfaction with Webflow
We use Webflow as our primary CMS platform for developing websites for our clients. After years of doing traditional, custom code work, we adopted it for it's no/low-code capabilities. We're able to deliver the highest possible quality in a fraction of the time, and at a lower cost than we were previously able to. As a designer-led agency, Webflow has also been a crucial tool for delivering pixel-perfect front-ends and empowering our design team to experiment in new ways.
Pros
- Webflow provides the best-in-class interface for building websites without the use of code.
- It has a flexible and scalable CMS with page-building capabilities that clients and marketers love.
- The built in SEO and optimize tools give marketers an all-in-one solution for building, deploying, and optimizing content.
Cons
- Brand recognition is still behind WordPress, which can make it a challenging sell for clients looking to play it safe in their CMS decision.
- The CMS is ideal for smaller datasets, but higher content sites introduce some minor challenges.
- Alignment between designers and developers is key prior to implementation. The flexibility of the platform requires careful planning to avoid over-engineering.
- Work quality output has improved as Webflow helps bridge the gap between design and development.
- Lower overall development costs mean more client budget can be allocated to strategy and creative.
- Faster turnarounds result in shorter billing cycles, which improve agency cashflow.
Framer is Webflow's closest competitor and has some advantages in the animation department, but Webflow has a bit more brand recognition among clients. WordPress is old-fashioned in its approach, and despite offering site-builder themes and plugins, still doesn't have native WYSIWYG site-building outside of the content creation areas. Squarespace has not been updated in a long time, but is easiest for non-technical users looking to put a website up fast.
