Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Acquia DAM (Widen) as a means to be able to easily share media with collaborators that are not part of the organization. It's mostly used by our Casting teams and Marketing/PR teams.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Being able to easily share assets through portals
The possibility of controlling share and downloads in a portal
The possibility of adding metadata to assets for easier retrieval

Cons

Most users don't put an expiration date to assets, so they accumulate

Return on Investment

Simplify sharing assets outside of the organization while securing our EDM systems
One-stop portal for multiple partners saves time and effort

Support Rating

Previous Acquia DAM (Widen) admins have told me that the support teams answer quickly and efficiently. I have not yet needed to use their services, but it's good to know

Creating portals so assets can be viewed/used by external collaborators is the main advantage of Acquia DAM (Widen) and the main reason we use it. It works remarkably well. It would be nice to have some sort of a system to identify assets that have been uploaded a long time ago, to facilitate cleaning up assets that are no longer needed, and help save storage space
