Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We manage the digital assets for our company and the server we were using was such a headache, so my boss wanted to get a DAM system in order to make everyone's lives easier. I am unsure of how many assets we manage but it's probably in the thousands. Widen makes it easy to search for the images you need as opposed to spending hours digging through files to find the right one. Additionally, I like that you can control which versions people are allowed to access so someone doesn't accidentally publish an old version of an asset.

Once we are fully integrated into Widen, I don't see us ever switching. There is a high startup cost to converting all the assets, but once that price is paid it will be very easy to maintain.
I've been on the calls to get this thing started and I have had a hard time feeling like the calls were super important. That could be because I am not as involved as others in the actual building aspect of the DAM and will be more of an admin. It also could be because we haven't fleshed out exactly how some of the rules of the DAM should go yet. But for example, the last call we were on we spent 40 minutes talking about how to do one tiny aspect of the DAM as opposed to really building it. But our rep has been very responsive and obviously knows her stuff.

If you are a user that is currently managing a wide variety of assets and other files, this could be great for you. Especially if you have a large user base such as a major company. It makes it easy to share assets, give restrictions to certain groups of users, and phase out old assets. I would not recommend this product if you are not a large company or do not manage large numbers of assets. It would be an expensive way to manage a small number of assets. Google drive would likely be sufficient for a smaller company.
