Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We use Acquia DAM (Widen) to house all of our photography assets. Previously, assets were stored across multiple g-drive folders and therefore we had no search capability. Now that we have very rich metadata auto-mapped to our assets, we can find assets within a matter of seconds. It has also helped us create strict permissions around who can download or view assets. This is especially valuable as we have a lot of usage rights that must be respected.

Pros

  • Excellent customer service
  • Amazing implementation support

Cons

  • When a selection is made, it sometimes keeps this selection even after a browser is closed. It would be nice to have the option to keep or de-select the selection.
  • We have reduced time doing administrative tasks by over 50%
  • Our design team can now do specific metadata-based searches for assets they need to promote specific styles.
I see us using Widen for a very long time and utilizing, even more, its robust metadata.
Best customer support I have ever used. It would be nice if they had the ability to do zoom workshops.

Acquia DAM (Widen) is appropriate for a company that has enough money to truly invest in a digital asset management system. It is not cheap, but you totally get what you pay for. I would say the company also needs to have a plan for how it will ingest metadata. Metadata is the heart of the software and that must be outlined before signing onto Acquia DAM (Widen).
