Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization is made up of six international partners, each serving as a fundraising arm in their respective countries for international non-profit work conducted in over 100 countries around the world. Acquia DAM (Widen) is our main data asset management system, and allows us to share resources (photos, videos, documents, and design files) across a wide number of users serving in a variety of departments. Our organization relies on the ability to share resources across these six international partners seamlessly, and Acquia DAM (Widen) makes it easy to do so.

Pros and Cons

The ability to create and organize collections of assets around a particular event, theme, or need is incredibly helpful for our marketing needs.
The breadth of metadata captured when uploading an asset allows resources to be utilized well across a variety of departments, and—in our case—across multiple organizations all sharing the same resources.
The user interface is simple and straightforward, making it easy to learn your way around the site.

I would like to see the ability to create a pop-up message or restriction when users try and download images and resources that require photo credit, permissions, or other sensitive information.
When viewing a collection and clicking into a specific resource, it's difficult to navigate back to the same location in the collection. That creates a slightly frustrating user experience.
I wish it were easier to share a collection with a non-user. For instance, a shareable link that could be copied and pasted into our Project Management software for the rest of our marketing team to review a collection of image options for an upcoming print piece.

Acquia DAM (Widen) is truly a great DAM solution for organizations that gather, store, and utilize a large number of assets. The wide range of metadata fields allows for users to provide a high level of detail to their assets, making them easily searchable, sharable, and—most importantly—useable. The collections feature has been a crucial component of our use case, allowing various teams to gather assets for specific events, campaigns, and marketing projects. If an organization does not, however, have someone overseeing their Acquia DAM (Widen) account and ensuring that all admin users include the appropriate metadata and keyword tags, it can be difficult to utilize the full power of the software.
