Acquia DAM (Widen) great for a PDF library and more. Wish there was the ability to add an asset to a portal before it is released to the public.

Overall Satisfaction with Acquia DAM (Widen)

I use Acquia DAM (Widen) to house free downloadable PDFs for our podcast listeners. These PDFs accompany the lessons for each episode on two podcasts. Each week there is a new free resource. I also use the portals to create the libraries that our listeners visit to access the PDFs.

Pros

  • Portals are easy to navigate and design
  • Thorough metadata for keeping assets organized
  • Customizable metadata categories

Cons

  • I would LOVE the option to add an asset to a portal before the asset is released to the public. In other words, I would like to be able to schedule an assets for a particular date and time and add it to a portal while it's still hidden from public. Then it would appear in the portal when it's set to release.
  • Navigating from assets to portals is a little cumbersome unless you have multiple windows open. Having a navigation menu on the side of the screen would be helpful.
  • Sometimes when I click on the share button to get the shareable link, the box where the link should be is blank. I have to reload the page, sometimes multiple times before the link appears.
  • Acquia DAM (Widen) stores the PDFs we create each week for our podcast listeners. They fill out a HubSpot form to access this portal, and we have generated thousands of leads.
I have never used the Acquia DAM (Widen) Support team.
I do prefer AWS because it's more simplified and suited to our purposes. But the rest of our company uses Acquia DAM (Widen), so I had to switch. But I'm still pleased with Acquia DAM (Widen), and I love the portal option to create a PDF library.

In my experience, Acquia DAM (Widen) has been well-suited for my purpose of creating a PDF library with notes for our podcast. We use this as our lead generation initiative and our listeners love these resources. I just wish I had the option to schedule an assets for a particular date and time and add it to a portal while it's still hidden from public. Then it would appear in the portal when it's set to release.
