Overall Satisfaction with Acquia DAM (Widen)

The main problems that have been addressed in our company by using the Acquia DAM (Widen) Digital Asset Management System are: • Inefficiency and loss of productivity. Our previous manual system of finding and sharing assets was very time-consuming. It required e-mailing back and forth to determine needs, manually sifting through a myriad of folders on a server to find the correct asset, and then downloading, converting it to the required format and manually emailing it out. Implementing the Acquia DAM (Widen) has relieved these issues by empowering people throughout our company to quickly find the assets they need on their own through keyword search and filters within our DAM. They are also able to download them in a variety of conversion format options and sizes to meet their needs, without requiring our team’s time. • Legal Risk. Prior to implementing our Acquia DAM (Widen), we had no reliable way to organize legal forms such as signed model releases and contracts that corresponded to photo and video assets. With the Acquia DAM (Widen) system, we are able to attach legal forms as related documents to the specific photo and video assets that they pertain to. This has protected our company from being sued for misuse of imagery. In addition, the system makes it very easy to tag assets with usage rights information so that users know how assets can be used before downloading them. • Brand Inconsistency. Pre-DAM, it was unclear which assets were current and brand-approved. People kept old files on their desktops, and outdated materials circulated through different systems. With our Acquia DAM (Widen) as the single source of truth for all brand assets, along with built-in version control tools, it’s easy to share the latest brand-approved assets throughout the company and with outside vendors and partners. • Lack of Analytics. Before we implemented the DAM, we had no way of tracking which brand assets and sales tools were the most popular and useful to the company. With Acquia DAM (Widen)’s built-in Insights application, we can now see which assets are downloaded the most and by whom, giving us valuable guidance on where we should focus our efforts.

  • They build community among Acquia DAM (Widen) Admins
  • They aren't as salesy and pushy as many of the other DAM Vendors that we considered. I don't feel like they are constantly trying to upsell me or take advantage. I hope this continues to be the case with the acquisition by Acquia.
  • They're just plain nice people to work with.
  • The level of attention and responsiveness of their CSMs has reduced some since the acquisition by Acquia.
  • There is room for improvement in their Acquia DAM (Widen) Certification exam process.
  • We occasionally experience a lag in download speed of assets, especially when the user is using a conversion.
  • Over the past year, the DAM has seen an average of 106 file downloads/day, only 40 of which are downloaded by the Creative Team - saving our team 66 file requests every day. This equates to approximately 5 1/2 hours per day and 27 1/2 hours per week.
  • Our Creative Brand Portal has allowed us to quickly share on-brand creative assets with external freelancers and creative firms, without having to gather, package and send them all, every single time they are needed. This portal received 733 visits over the past 12 months and 714 assets were downloaded.
  • Custom conversions are another way efficiencies have been improved through the DAM. These allow people to download images for specific end-uses like social media and e-mail headers. The DAM does the resizing upon download, so we don’t have to. Over the last year, these new custom conversions were used 326 times. That’s 326 resizes our team did not have to manually complete.
  • In the last year alone, over 16,000 brand and marketing assets were downloaded by Agents and Brokers from our portals, including sales assist sheets, informational one pagers, photos, logos and more.
I contact the Acquia DAM (Widen) support team at least once a month. They are consistently prompt, friendly and knowledgeable.
The main way that Acquia DAM (Widen)'s system has helped our company publish brand content is through the use of the Portals application (microsites hosted within the DAM). We have portals set up for our agents and brokers - where they can access our marketing and brand materials, as well as training materials. Our Ads Portal allows Sales Team members to view our latest ad campaigns and request resizes. We are in the process of launching a Sales and Marketing version of our DAM, which will be a customized dashboard built specifically with the needs of our Sales Teams in mind.

In my experience Acquia DAM (Widen) is an excellent choice for companies looking for a user-friendly, reliable brand asset library. If you're looking for an system that will be primarily used for video, the Acquia DAM (Widen) does lack certain features such as time-based metadata, and audio transcription that make it an unideal choice. We do put finished, edited video projects into our DAM and it works fine for that, but we keep our raw video footage/b-roll in a different system.
