Workfront is our project management software used solely in our IT department. It is used by multiple application and infrastructure groups to manage a wide array of projects. Each department utilizes the applications for tracking requests as received from the business unit as well as tracking time and progress on active projects.

Pros

The Workfront interface is very intuitive, simple and clean.
Workfront makes it easy to build custom forms and reports within the application.
Since Workfront is cloud based, it gives our application teams the ability to access from anywhere.

Cons

I think there is some room for improvement when entering new projects. Unless you know exactly how you want the project to run, sometimes changing from fixed dates to other options (as early as possible, must start on) sometimes throws the project into weird dating.
I think there are several places where the status and percentage reporting can be enhanced. Some things are available on the timesheet, where other options are available within other areas.

Return on Investment

Overall, Workfront has allowed us to gain better control of our projects. The control allows us better reporting across our department and our end users.
In terms of productivity, the software makes it easier for us to track time and keep up with new requests.

The professional services provided by Workfront have been top notch. The consultants are well versed in both the application and project management methodologies. This combination helps them configure the system for your specific needs.

Likelihood to Recommend

Workfront would be well suited for any organization that needs to organize tasks, projects or portfolios. The application handles most any situation you can throw at it. You can use different project methodologies within the system (AGILE, waterfall, etc.) as determined by your specific organization. If you are looking to organize your projects at an enterprise level, this is the software for you.
