Overall Satisfaction with Xero
We are using Xero across the business. We use it for general accounting as well as invoicing.
- Xero is very strong on accessibility. It works well from the desktop as well as a mobile device.
- The invoicing functionality is good with a lot of automation. Recurring monthly invoices are automatically drafted each month which saves a lot of time.
- The ability to allow controlled access of other people in my organization and my accountant is helpful.
- Xero changes and updates the product very frequently (almost every day it seems sometimes). The pace is quick enough that it is sometimes hard to keep up. This is good and bad.
- There is no built-in project accounting system. There are integrations available, but Xero is pretty much financial accounting and lightweight inventory at this point.
- Since the onboarding process was straightforward, I was able to quickly have one of my employees take over the work that I was doing. This allows me to focus on other important things while easily keeping track.
- Cloud-based makes start-up process quick. No need to install anything to get started.
- The setup process and instruction (in general) are very detailed--almost too detailed at times.
There was no competition once I had used both products. QuickBooks Online is very clunky in comparison with no real feature benefits. The costs were comparable. Xero is much more pleasant to use day-to-day.

Yes - The mobile interface is pretty good for reference purposes and for the most common basic tasks like reviewing accounts payable and accounts receivable. The login process initially requires a full username and password, but then has the option to work off of four digit PIN for verification. This is pretty handy.
