Overall Satisfaction with Zoom

In my current organization, we use Zoom frequently and it's used across the whole organization. We have quite a few remote employees, so we use Zoom for internal meetings. We also use Zoom for engineering demos, sometimes for interviews, and for calls with vendors. Our rooms are set up to create Zoom meetings, so we use Zoom for screensharing even when all employees are in office.
  • I've always been happy with the quality of the video and audio. It's superior to Google Hangouts, which often crashes or has video issues.
  • It's much easier than other products to have a large number of participants in one room. Other products have stricter guidelines on the number of people connecting to one call.
  • It was easy to integrate Zoom into our meetings via Google calendar.
  • I feel as though the UX could be more intuitive once you're in a meeting switching between full screen, pinning videos to the meeting, etc. I sometimes fumble around and can't remember where to go to get back to the view I want.
  • It would be nice to have some tools to edit the video recordings!
  • Zoom has been great for meetings where there are a lot of participants connecting. Our engineering-wide meetings need a tool like Zoom for easy collaboration and screen sharing.
I've used Zoom Phone but it's not often useful for me particularly. I don't see any negatives to the product but it has features I don't really need.
As mentioned before, I do sometimes use Hangouts instead of Zoom because it cuts out a little bit of time when I just need a meeting for a small number of participants (fewer steps, no need to auth again for Hangouts since I'm a Google cal user). However, Hangouts crashes far more often Zoom and video quality just never seems as good. So, I think Zoom is usually superior. GoToMeeting can't hold a candle to Zoom. I try to avoid getting on a GTM meeting whenever I can. It just feels outdated and behind the game.
I think Zoom is a great solution for larger teams with remote workers. It scales well and is friendly for large numbers of users connecting. I don't feel it's necessarily the quickest option if you're a Google user. It's just so easy to go into a hangout without any additional tools or any additional authentication. So, if I have a small meeting, I do sometimes prefer using Hangouts.
