Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Zoom is integrated into our organization for meetings, collaboration, and also delivery of online classes. This was a requirement at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and has since replaced our institution-wide video conferencing tools.

Easy single sign-on.
Integration into Microsoft 365.
Excellent video and audio performance over many connections.

More educational focused tools for teachers and students.
Better integration into Learning Management Systems.
Improved presentation models beyond "sharing screen".

Enterprise costs for video conferencing has been greatly reduced.
Competes with MS Teams integration.
Excellent performance and easy to use.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex Desk Pro and Blackboard Collaborate

Zoom has the most consistent experience so far compared to the other products. With the exception of Blackboard's integration into a learning management system, Zoom is by far the most feature-rich compared to its competitors.

Likelihood to Recommend

Corporate meetings and collaboration events are excellent use cases for Zoom. It outperforms other video conferencing apps in those areas consistently. However, as a teaching tool, there are many missing features, and is clearly not designed to be a remote delivery application.
