Overall Satisfaction with Zoom
I use Zoom to hold meetings when we can't be together because of distance or disease. I started using it to teach remotely, and was very pleased I had developed the skills before the pandemic hit. Now I run most meetings in my work as hybrid. While it is good to be face-to-face, it is more important to be able to get together in some form. It is easy to share screens, so it is easy to share slide shows with both the face-to-face and the on-line participants.
- Stable platform
- Easy for people to use
- Screen sharing
- Allowing my student in China to watch Youtube and see Google results without breaking international laws.
- Using the editing functions to write on things is clunky.
- The whiteboard is not as easy to use as holding a little whiteboard up to a screen.
- I don't yet know how to teach the AI how to spell words.
- The AI is set to American English spelling.
- Because I have to pay for the account, it doesn't save money. This is not the point.
- It means my meetings can have a wider reach.
- It means I am having for meetings, often at night and in my pyjamas.
- It means I can attend overseas events...in my pyjamas....at 4 am.
My computer doesn't spit the dummy using Zoom.
Interestingly, I am doing a course that comes with a Microsoft 365 account. We still meet using Zoom, because everyone can access it.
