Likelihood to Recommend

1ShoppingCart

It's really user preference. Some people have been told by other colleagues that it's a great system to use so they want to go with that. There are other systems that do exactly the same thing. I have not found that 1ShoppingCart has any unique features that would lead me to persuade a client to use it over another one. I usually have clients look at two or three options and give feedback. Sometimes it comes down to monthly prices.

IBM Digital Commerce

WebSphere Commerce is particularly suitable for companies processing a large volume of orders - $40 million and above in a year

Pros

  • Email broadcasts are super easy with 1ShoppingCart
  • Affiliate set up and management is easy
  • WebSphere Commerce Payment plugin integrates well with third party payment processors for credit card processing.
  • The in build promotion engine within WebSphere Commerce can handle different types of promotions that a business decides to set up for the customers.
  • WebSphere Commerce is a robust eCommerce processor for B2B and B2C channel.
  • Order Capture / Order Processing available within WebSphere Commerce is highly scalable.
  • The Contract module available within WebSphere Commerce is very suitable for B2B channel.

Cons

  • The UI needs improvement. There are other systems out there that are more intuitive.
  • Customizing/branding a shopping cart page can be a little tricky - when it should be very simple.
  • The e-Marketing spots contain content associated with marketing activities to target customer segment - needs some improvement. The algorithm to set up the priority of each of the Web Activity with in eMarketing spot is little bit confusing.
  • The catalog load can be simplified.
  • WebSphere Commerce is a huge application - someone needs to spend at least 5-6 years to learn about the whole application.

Likelihood to Renew

If I were in charge of the renewal decision I would really take a look at 1SC vs. Infusionsoft. There are many ways each are great and many ways they are different. I would look at what was best for my company and make the choice accordingly. I find that Infusionsoft has many more ways to intuitively market, segment and cultivate new leads and grow the business as a whole than 1SC currently has.

We have the manpower resources to work in WebSphere Commerce. It is not very easy to get good WebSphere Commerce resources.

Alternatives Considered

Again, it's the client that usually selects the system they want to use. I think 1ShoppingCart has lower monthly payment options so that makes it more appealing. Infusionsoft has a $2k payment that must be made in order to use their product
Compared to some other software that our clients have considered, a lot of them choose WebSphere Commerce because of the ability to scale easily. Some of our customers are coming from a PHP based ecommerce platform that doesn't allow them to scale up and they're hitting the limit of their ecommerce system

Return on Investment

  • Faster lead conversion, definitely
  • For our clients in the apparel industry, the flexibility that WCS provides to scale up really helped their online business to grow tremendously.
  • Our client in the restaurant industry can't quite leverage what WCS has to offer though as it doesn't really fit their shopping model.
  • Another positive impact is that it allows our clients to streamline their commerce system in interacting with their backend.
