8x8 Express

For the price, having all of these features is amazing. If you have separate divisions and want to not have a ton of crossover with calls this is a great setup. It isn’t a great setup if you need only one phone since it doesn’t make sense since you won’t use most of the features.

Cisco Webex DX80

The experience with the Cisco Webex DX80 is very productive to create a corporate virtual meeting environment. It brings a feeling of being close to the person who is with you on the other side because of the high quality of video and audio. For small meeting rooms with up to 5 seats I recommend this solution. If the room is much larger, I recommend another more advanced solution from Cisco with a larger screen. Cisco DX80 in general is a good choice for an evolution of communication and productivity between people.

Cons

8x8 Express

  • Setup is a pain.
  • Transferring numbers take a long time.

Cisco Webex DX80

  • Lacking fancy features like background blurrying and MS Teams integration ( available on the desk pro device)
  • During setup the difference between registering the device as either s perdonal or room device wasn't clear untill I wasn't able to perform certain actions such as teansferring a meeting from mobile to dx80. I had to reset and re-register the device in room mode to get it to work as I expected.

Cisco Webex DX80 is perfect for group meetings in the company. Just enter the room and dial the destination number and participate in the video. It is very practical and easy. It has a friendly menu and interface as well. The usability of Cisco is excellent and I like it a lot. I had no problems.

If you get less than 4 phones you fall into the online only customer service. There were a couple of times that I could have used more assistance but figuring it out online was a bit of a hassle.

We have never had any issues so far except that there is some flakiness in the internet bandwidth now that everyone works from home, etc. We have a very good IT team that is on top of any challenges executives face while using the system. They also take care proactively of any updates they need to do to keep everything up and working.

Alternatives Considered

8x8 Express

I love 8x8. Having not used Polycom phones before, the hardest part was learning how to set up and use the actual phones. 8x8 makes it a seamless transition from using other service providers. Their customer service is excellent although if you get their cheapest plan you will only get online assistance.

Desk Pros are the next-gen set of video endpoints that are built with the right set of hardware configuration, capable of handling more load, with enough compute/CPU/memory to handle feature upgrades that meet the latest advancements Cisco is making to make this product line competitive—mostly trying to follow the Apple catching up to Samsung mobile phones roadmap.

Cisco Webex DX80

  • It helped us get our Sr. Leadership team familiar with and excited about Webex. Then, them spreading the word helped align the company with the new Webex software coming and saved us a bunch on training. When users were more excited about a product, they soak it in better.
  • This device has been a mainstay in our COVID working from home plans. This allows the business to keep running AND meet face to face when it's not safe yet to do so.
