A2 Hosting

if you're looking for a somewhat cheap web host but don't care about uptime, outages or decent technical support then A2 is ideal

Kinsta

If you want to get a Wordpress website up and running quickly, easily, but don't have time to manage the security, harden the server, configure MySQL/MariaDB, or implement a caching system like Varnish. Also, be aware that Kinsta is more expensive than comparable solutions. However, if you want granular control over your server or your low on funds, [Kinsta] may not be the best option.

they are only technically available but having someone say hello, i'm here to help, immediately is not real responsive if they actually never address the issue being reported. we don't contact support for the bland greeting, we are actually trying to solve a business process interruption

Performance

They are only good if you never update your website and i mean never. Otherwise their main performance diffrentiator is turbo web hosting, their highest shared hosting plan. When caching is working it performs well reducing load times by half, but as soon as you add a new page to the site, the updates don't show up until you clear the cache manually from multiple locations (wordpress a2optimized plugin, cpanel etc..). As they make updates to the turbo hosting A2optimized plugin, they do not test them properly and do not handle customer feedback about them, instead they are in denial and try to immediately convince the customer there is no issue at all! the old developer joke when they don't want to fix feedback: it works on my machine!

In my opinion they are unresponsive, rude, incompetent, and untrustworthy to boot.

They are quick to respond, very knowledgeable and I don't have to be escalated to get my problems resolved quickly. They have an efficient chat system that allows for support requests to be handled quickly and easily picked up by another specialist if the need arises. They are always there when I need them.

Our other websites are hosted on a variety of services. The majority are on an onsite host in Texas. The rest are distributed between Linode and DigitalOcean. The nice things about our onsite host and Linode and DigitalOcean is that we have complete control over our servers, our security, and what we're deploying. Costs are also much cheaper. However, it takes longer to deploy a web application due to having to configure everything from the ground up. And with Linode and DigitalOcean, depending on your traffic and your server configuration, costs can go up and down unexpectedly. Kinsta, on the other hand, is extremely easy to use, both in their admin interface and deploying a site quickly. You don't have to worry about configuring anything, including security. You can set it up and never worry about the backend again, as Kinsta takes care of it all, even updating Wordpress. However, be aware the costs are much higher for everything you're getting.

I believe they do not care about addressing failures when they occur. Starting out with a working service counts for nothing if you can't maintain it, fix issues when reported, and actually take the extra step to prevent them from happening again. You have to care about quality and customer service, and A2 couldn't care less
