Acronis Cyber Protect vs. Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage

If you don't have to manage your client's email and their email archiver Acronis works very well. If you're looking for just a backup service for what's on a particular computer then Acronis is perfect. It is easy to use, so newcomers are not overwhelmed with features.It does not include as robust features as Barracuda and Cloudberry, but it does work well as just a backup.

Though it offers fewer features than competitors, Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage provides an affordable solution for backup and archiving. Its low cost storage acts as a backbone to many small-scale enterprises. However, where low latency in data transfer and more granular permissions over the data are required, in my experience, Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage doesn't fit well.

• Image based backups. After the initial backup, the backups happen quite quickly. This allows for multiple backups per day.
• We have different classes of data which requires different retention policies. Acronis makes that easy to manage.
• Restoration can be done directly to hardware or to a VM. This makes it easy to migrate a physical server to a VM.

Acronis Cyber Protect has been reliable for our core use case — host-level VM backup for our Hyper-V environment. The Virtual Host licensing model has worked well for us, letting us cover all VMs on a host under a single license rather than managing per-VM costs, and it gave us the flexibility to migrate the license when we shifted workloads to a different host. Application-consistent backups via VSS integration have also given us confidence in our recovery capability for workloads like SQL Server.

The web layout is very easy to understand. There are many points, all easy to understand; there are many settings, clearly described; and each point is accompanied by a description. In addition, the Protect Cloud is clearly distinguished from the management portal, preventing confusion.

Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage offers affordable pricing compared to its competitors. It's a no brainer storage solution for small scale enterprises. It is widely used for storage media and large object files that can be accessed across the globe. With all these, there is still some room for improvement over the features and the latency

I only got one issue resolved for more than 20 cases open. The escalation is ineffective. Most of the time, I have the feeling that I know the solution better than the support technician. Overall, case management is time-consuming, as our resolution rate is really low

I don't have any real key 'insights' per say except that it wasn't difficult at all, and do not be afraid to dabble in its tools and settings. It is quite intuitive with built in common sense. I cannot say enough good things about our companies experience when using this backup software.

The integrated cybersecurity feature stands out. The competition does not provide it. Also, there are other services that users can simply turn on from the portal. The EDR solution is really good, and so is the email security. MDR solution also looks promising. Overall, it is very easy to manage everything from the same console.

Because they continuously had times they required updating the account and there were hiccups when that happened, over time, I became skeptical of their ability to keep my files secure. They were the first cloud backup storage company I had ever used and I stayed with them for almost two decades. Then it happened that we did have to do a recovery two different times because of hardware failures. It was anything but a smooth or complete recovery, and their price kept rising as their service declined. Hundreds of files were totally lost in the process. I guessed that among their strategies, it might well have been a re-focus on their part to build up their enterprise accounts and didn't seem to care about small business. I finally had enough and left them as a client.

The ability to back up multiple servers from one source is a great tool to have for businesses that have equipment in different locations on the same network with a variety of software data to back up such as SQL, Exchange or a Files Server. You can decide to purchase individual server licenses as well if you would like to keep the process separate or have multiple sites where your data is housed.

• Every times you restore a file, you see the value and the ROI of backup.
• Backup is a great protection against ransomware, you can always restore files that has been infected.
• When you want to go back in previous version of files, it can be life saver.

• We haven't had any data loss situations yet, however I'm sure our ROI will be fairly high if we have to recover any data. Backblaze is in the insurance industry, not storage.
