Adobe Social is well suited for writing and scheduling most posts. It's less appropriate for Twitter video and social analytics depending on the needs of your client. Other products worth looking at are Hootsuite or Sprout Social

I believe it's extremely useful in an environment where a large company database is used, and it becomes difficult for individual departments within the company to keep track of what is specifically targeted for their particular department. Microsoft Yammer allows for each department to create what appears to be "microblogs" which serves as a functional way to share information

  • The approval process for posts is very straightforward.
  • If permissions are properly set up, it is very easy to write and schedule most types of posts.
  • The ability to set up custom moderation feeds is great.

  • Yammer is more of a social form of sharing than email. Which makes the information being delivered more personal and targeted towards specified departments.
  • Yammer allows for a "blog" feel more than our use of SharePoint in the past. Meaning there is a back and forth form of communication that wasn't necessarily available through SharePoint.
  • Yammer is more reliable than traditional work email, especially when using Lotus Notes, in order to send, share, and discuss within departments.

  • While Yammer has been an easy transition from SharePoint, it's still relatively new and unknown. Some employees claim that feel like the product was just another "add on" to the entire Microsoft Office experience.
  • When introducing new employees to Yammer, they are not as receptive because of how widely used SharePoint is across businesses and industries.
  • Functionality is simple, but still vastly different from SharePoint, thus creating a learning curve.

I wasn't in charge of making the actual management decision, but I would absolutely renew Adobe Social. As I mentioned, it provides strong and in-depth analytics and listening tools. The reports that it generates are very thorough and easy to read. I loved the platform and would recommend it to anyone

We are looking to upgrade to the Enterprise licence, although are having some difficulty due to the requirement for an Office 365 licence to be in place. If these external factors were not there, it would be much easier.

Overall easy to use and intuitive, although limited in the possibility to personalize layout and look & feel of a site. Some functionalities are not easy to use, like document editing, but some others are quick and effective (posts and tagging above all). Performance and responsiveness of the Yammer site is typically acceptable, in my experience.

The implementation was done during our POC. We had a very mixed experience here, and have had some issues arise since based on the way the tool was implemented. An Adobe employee went ahead and made a change to our account that was unauthorized (helpful for our implementation) which caused issues in on boarding another team who needed the same change, but could not get it done without costly Adobe certification

Alternatives Considered

I use Social Studio currently at my job and I believe both are very similar products. Adobe Social has stronger analytics, including revenue and leads generated. Social Studio's layout is a little easier to navigate. Although it has its bugs too. Overall both platforms are great, but I definitely give an edge to Adobe Social in analytics

I wasn't involved in the selection of Yammer, but compared to Saba Social, Yammer offers overall best performance, deeper level of programmability and ease of searching information. On the converse, Yammer is less user-centric and more group-centric, so it is more challenging, compared to the Saba offering, to know what a specific person has been doing. However, the flow of posts and documents in a group feed is better structured in a Yammer group than it is in a Saba group.
