If you fit "inside the box" of most standard companies with few special circumstances, Employment Tax might be for you. I am under the impression that most companies trust ADP and do not validate to the extent we have, so there might be a fit for companies with large numbers of jurisdictions and FEINs who can write off problems or discrepancies that can't be easily found. They can handle well IRS forms 941, 943, 945, 1099-R, 1099-NEC, and I believe 1099-MISC, but the output is only as good as what you send them, because once it is sent, you can't change it except through an amendment, which won't happen for a few weeks after the original is sent. They handle W-2's and W-2c's quite well and we really like their W-2c Manager portal. W-2s are uploaded to ADP SmartCompliance's portal for employees to download and employees can usually connect their tax preparation software to ADP SmartCompliance directly and simply. Employment Verification likely can assist most companies and their situations. On the other hand, if you have special circumstances with your organization that are outside the box or are treated unusually for tax purposes that require manual review before sending, it may not fit your needs.

This software is great for a tax preparer that wants the whole package from organizers to customer returns with letters and invoices. This is the best software with everything combined together. For new tax preparers looking for expensive software and are willing to some items (invoices) organizers, scheduling) through other means, Intuit Lacerte might be too expensive. But once the practice grows the time saved having all the “bells and whistles “ is worth every penny!

Sometimes I believe using AI to separate garnishments can cause errors because we have had more than one employee who has had the same child support order set up twice, because AI didn't catch it was the same order number. Human involvement here might be needed.
I wish ADP SmartCompliance had an "urgent" case option so we could open that kind of case when calling isn't optimal. Sometimes a case is urgent, but a call isn't necessarily needed.

Although Intuit Lacerte offers the option for clients to by by refund, it is limited to 2 banks which means we could have to change banks to offer this service, broadening the banks relationship would assist us greatly.
Although Intuit Lacerte is set up for running reports, they are not as dynamic as they could be, for example, running a report for all clients working for a specific employer, or occupation if we were targeting an audience.

For the most part, one can get in and learn how to navigate the system by just clicking on one of the suject areas. If you have a good clientrepresentative, they will inform you of new features/functionality and give you a quick demo. This is helpful for one to go back in and navigate to learn how it works and usefulness.
Intuit Lacerte is not only easy for those veteran users such as myself, but is it also easy to teach to the new users, which makes it a good fit for a firm such as ours that has a high volume of interns and trainees in the industry. Many of which can then take that experience with them to the next firm they move on to, which exhibits as perpetual value.

Availability is good, with only one or two instances of not being able to access the system at all which were quickly fixed. Some features do not work correctly from time to time, such as the "Help" function or the "Sync" function.

If ADP is having issues, they communicate the problem within the solution once you log in. They also communicate that the issue will be fixed promptly. Reports run efficiently and in a reasonable amount of time. Also, the reports allow for various reporting types to be produced like a PDF or a Microsoft Excel file.
As mentioned in the last comment, everyone and everything has been great. However sometimes you get one person that I feel can bring a score down and the current dedicated tax representative I have I do not feel is very supportive.

Exceptional Training Services Received during and after our Build . The teams of ADP Professionals assisted on a daily basis with tight deadlines and testing, each day , each Qtr. and annual processes including setting up local and State agencies for the 50 State we are reporting since our Workday go live 4/1/23. The process was seamless.

Online training give us more flexible on timing. We always have a pack schedule and not able to attend training in person. Online training with recording is a good source for us especially we can review it again and again. The down side is we are unable ask question in person

I wasn't too hands on with integration portion of this product so I can't completely give an honest answer to that. I have been told that the training improves alot for each individual as they go through the process and it improves success. These individuals are able to do alot more than me in regards to implementation.

ADP SmartCompliance is the most complete automated solution for compliance, bar none. I have used many compliance software suites, and they fall short in different areas that ADP has honed in on and made their strength. Regulatory nightmares are a lot to untangle, but the efficacy of having so many documents within a few keystrokes makes all of the difference.

I’ve heard other tax preparers talk about their software and their likes and dislikes. When I offer to show them Intuit Lacerte most are blown away by what it does. One preparer used ProConnrct online tax (also by Intuit), and she loves how easy Intuit Lacerteis to use. She said having live support (not chat) to actually be able to show issues and work through them was great. Both programs use the same calculations, but the extras (trial balance, organizers with prior year data, invoicing, scheduling, filters, etc) are what makes Intuit Lacerte the best!

ADP has the ability to scale across departments. This was found to be true when we rolled out the wage payment solution. ADP users are able to view their pay stubs on their phones and/or computers. This wage payment portal offers W2 storage and paystub storage for access at any time by an employee.

Lacerte Diamond Passport fees is highly priced at 17.5K USD + fastpath additional per user. They could consider to bring down the cost so that it works out lucratively.
