Chose Akamai CDN
Akami CDN was far better than Amazon CDN, I don't see much security aspect on Amazon Cloudfront Due to which we moved to Akami.
Chose Akamai CDN
I don't have any direct experience with any of the other CDNs, so it's hard to say. Like any solution out there, each service will have its pros and cons. Some will fit your business needs more than others. Akamai is amongst the best and meets our business needs.
Chose Akamai CDN
Akamai is a leader in CDN domain with adaptive media delivery and download delivery and it helps work by reducing the distance between your website and your target audience. It also provides 24X7 support services.
Chose Akamai CDN
I am just getting into AWS at work and it will be difficult to supplant the incumbent Akamai solution as there is simply nothing wrong with it - from my point of view. I suspect we will be looking at integrating Akamai/AWS solutions in the future as the effort and or business …
Chose Akamai CDN
Akamai offers sophisticated security and defense layers in addition to its content delivery network. Its focus on security is well known and beats offerings from AWS and Azure to punches. It redefined the cloud security market by extending its core offering.
Chose Akamai CDN
We've used -- and considered -- a whole number of CDN offerings. The good news is that almost all of the CDN products on the market are terrific, and will pay for themselves via increased customer satisfaction and lower monthly hosting bills. For some cases, we're still more …
Chose Akamai CDN
I have not evaluated or used any direct competitors for Akamai, so it's hard to say how it compares. All I know is that Akamai is very powerful and has now become an integral part of our existing set-up.
Chose Akamai CDN
I haven't had much experience with other CDNs and to be honest I haven't heard of many more other than Akamai which just goes to show which one is the most trusted and proves to be the best. There are others out there, such as Cloudflare, that claim to provide a similar service …
Chose Akamai CDN
CloudFlare and CloudFront are good for small sites where budgetary costs are the primary concern but Akamai Ion provides a new level of quality and performance.
Chose Akamai CDN
CloudFlare is much easier to use. It is much cheaper and from our experience, it works so much better. The support staff at CloudFlare has always been helpful and will get on the phone when we need help. Also, CloudFlare helped us get set up on their platform in about an hour …
Amazon CloudFront
Chose Amazon CloudFront
CloudFronts beats everyone with their free 1 TB monthly bandwidth usage. And if we compare speed and latency of CloudFront with the BunnyCDN and CloudFare, CloudFront is was faster than them. With CloudFront, we get options like signed URL and signed cookies which prevent our …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Have used the IBM Cloud Content Delivery Network for a very short time span like a couple of weeks. Both the setup as well as interactions with other services are a little complicated or not straightforward when compared to AWS.
Also, IBM cloud has less number of edge locations …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Cloudfront is one of the oldest CDN with presence in a lot of locations. This really helps in making the content load faster in all the locations globally. Other products have also caught up with this but still AWS has a lot of other services which can be connected with the CDN …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Amazon has always been creative and leading, and I have been using its services for years. They are very reassuring and have fast and responsive support--you can call them from any time zone to respond quickly. High security on servers, open hands on changes, and increasing and …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
We use a great set of AWS features and it was easy to implement Amazon CloudFront. It fulfills our needs, and the learning curve was not difficult given the AWS configuration we already have.
Chose Amazon CloudFront
I find Amazon CloudFront to be better suited to my business needs in terms of robustness, agility and scalalbility of the solution.
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Because our products are built and utilize other AWS features, it was easiest to implement Amazon CloudFront based on initial environment configuration. Other CDNs were easier to get started with but required manual intervention to update overtime.
Chose Amazon CloudFront
If you are using other AWS services, then no other CDN can compete with AWS CloudFront. Its integration with WAF, Route53, ACM allow it to provide a whole ecosystem for building websites and using a CDN. It gives developers access to inexpensive, pay-as-you-go pricing. …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
We ended up selecting CloudFront because we were already using an Amazon stack. To be honest, since we were already in the ecosystem there was little reason to deviate once we saw pricing was comparable.
Chose Amazon CloudFront
We went with CloudFront primarily because we have all of our other services with Amazon already. We are using EC2, S3, Elastic Beanstalk, and are very familiar with the interface. It did not disappoint.
Chose Amazon CloudFront
CloudFront is well-suited for a particular use case with its native tie-ins to other Amazon/AWS services, like S3. If choosing from a platform-specific CDN, we tend to go with whichever CDN is available for use on that platform (e.g. Google or Azure). In rare cases we might …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Cloudflare is another great CDN service. It comes with a lot of things set up of the box for you, and gives you a basic and reasonable set up straight away. It also has a free-tier for smaller sites. Cloudflare doesn't quite have the same level of configurability, however. …
Chose Amazon CloudFront
Amazon CloudFront free Tier allows up to 50 GB of data transfer per month which is not there in any of the above. Amazon CloudFront provides detailed reporting around the most frequently used objects, monitoring and usage charts. Amazon CloudFront is suitable to help you …

I have used Salesforce to explore it as an app but I have found them both able to solve my needs and requirements when it comes to security. While I choose IBM Cloud Internet Services for more accessibility, a better price was available with Saleforce. Although that is just my …
Chose IBM Cloud Internet Services
IBM Cloud Internet Services is the best service to use to ensure security, performance and reliability of applications deployed to IBM Cloud, as it is a service that provides in-built solutions for IBM Cloud Foundry applications. It also provides a great deal of pre-configured …
Chose IBM Cloud Internet Services
Another option we looked into was Cloudflare, but we ended up with IBM Cloud Internet services mostly because of the intuitive interface and reliable customer support center.
Chose IBM Cloud Internet Services
IBM Cloud Internet Services edged out Cisco solutions in terms of quality of user experience and need to have flexibility in parameterizing the solution in global organization. Amazon cloud solutions are comparable to IBM solutions.
Chose IBM Cloud Internet Services
Barracuda Web Filter is used to limit internet access to certain websites. This is a great tool with an easy to use interface that you can log into to monitor web browsing activities from your end user.

Akamai is a superior premium services offering if that's what you need from a CDN. For more typical use cases, we're often more often than not implementing MaxCDN, or integrated CDNs from cloud providers (e.g. CloudFront, Azure CDN, etc). If you find that Akamai's offerings are really what you need, and you are okay paying the premium, the services themselves are great. There's a reason they're used by major enterprises of all sizes, and used for hosting video content from the NFL, etc.

Amazon CloudFront is best suited when there is a need of speed in serving static and dynanic web contents of a web application. If the content is already in that edge location, CloudFront delivers it immediately. If the content is not currently in that edge location, CloudFront retrieves it from an Amazon S3 bucket or an HTTP server. Amazon CloudFront is not appropriate in case users can tolerate some delays or servers are present near to the location of user. It also Integrates through the W3 Total Cache plugin. Amazon CloudFront Pricing based on bandwidth usage that's the best part of it.

In terms of business challenges, it simplifies the job of my engineers and significantly increases the productivity of my teams when they collaborate with IBM teams all over the world. Now that we have completed a proof-of-concept using the services supplied by IBM, we expect it to assist us in managing them more efficiently; thus far, management has been straightforward.

Pros
  • Caching is one of the greatest benefits that Akamai allows for, saving time, money and experiencing the user experience.
  • Knowing they provide DDOS and other attack protection gives you peace of mind.

  • Solid CDN services, does what it says on the tin
  • Lots of configuration options, which allow for different setups and pricing strategies
  • Lambda@Edge integration allows for really quite complex behaviours to be executed in the cloud at the edge node itself. This means there are a huge amount of possibilities for shaping and altering traffic close to the viewer.
  • Simple integration to other AWS services (e.g. S3)

Cons
  • Akamai platforms does not come with an intuitive UI to configure and it requires training for set up.
  • Akami is mostly costly and will be proven very expensive for small organization that are not scaled.
  • Akami activation takes a longer time for a lot of testing with multiple scenarios especially with edge servers scenarios.

  • If price is the main concern, CloudFront is not the cheapest-in-class by a wide margin
  • Some of the settings are not obvious to new users, and the management dashboards could use work
  • Lacks fine-grained access controls and statistical reports for usage

Their support documents are excellent and provide a lot of useful information for all their services. The only reason I didn't give them a 10 is that the time it takes for them to respond to an issue could be slightly faster.

CloudFront is a good CDN solution. It can be a bit complicated to implement depending on your needs, but AWS tech support is great. You get to avoid a ton of upfront costs by going with CloudFront. It works best in conjunction with other AWS services in your infrastructure. Once you set it up, you won't need to do much to maintain it. It just works.

Return on Investment
  • Positive - Akamai vastly reduced the number of content delivery servers needed here, saving money, hardware and management overheads.
  • Negative - I don't think it's a "cheap" option, but also, you get what you pay for and for such a powerful product you don't expect it to be free.
  • Positive - some of the support we have had has been really good.
