I have used Tenable Patch Management, but the reason I did not go with it is because it uses on prem servers that we have to host instead of using Agent and cloud platform like Automox.

I feel like that is dated as most solutions are now changing into the cloud solutions.

LanGuard is fine but the UI is clunky and it's not a cloud-based product. Automox is a nice tool for endpoints, however, not great for server patching IMO because it doesn't seem to patch in "real-time" as LanGuard does. I can monitor LanGuard's patching in real-time, I can see …

Automox is well suited in your are looking for patching management solution for your cloud native workload, if you are using Microsoft Azure for example you can use Azure patch management no doubt but what about application level vulnerabilities Microsoft will not give you that information but Automox will. Also you need to make sure apart from patching your 3rd party apps like Zoom, slack, Chrome or any other software you are using need to be updated on time to get latest features installed you need Automox and it work perfect

[Tenable.sc (formerly SecurityCenter)] does very well for internal scanning for vulnerabilities, however it needs to be combined with Tenable.io in order to do cloud scanning.

I've been using this product since it began as an open source product, I really like it and for the money, I think it's probably the best choice for most companies who need a product like this. Over the years I've seen the interface change quite a bit and sometimes I think it's a bit unclear how to do certain things and the different packages can be confusing, these are the only reasons I'm giving it a 9 instead of a 10.

    • Setup of the internal scanner was fairly simple and straight forward.
    • An update came out for the internal scanner that allows you to add an Internal Certificate Authority for lookup.
    • Has automated reporting to keep executives and compliance departments informed.
    • Internal scanner can be configured to auto-update itself.
    • "Recast Rules" allows your organization to redefine a vulnerabilities' classification, if it is not applicable or your disagree.
    • External PCI scans allow you to remediate before submitting to Tenable.io for review.
    • Tenable.io staff was very patient and helpful. They provided some limited guidance with remediation.
    • Internal and External scans can be automated. schedule for the automated scans is very granular.

    Cons
    Automox
    • There are some applications that updates to the wrong version causing Channel version issues, this then needs to be excluded from the policy and updated via a script.
    • Certain software like NET. is not updated
    • The worklet / remediation / evaluation system is not always effective, does not work all the time. Needs to be very detailed for it work.

    • Expensive - You do pay a slight premium for the best product in the space.
    • Asset management is difficult to work with if you have a lot of asset turnover, the license can be ''held'' for 3-6 months after the asset is gone from your environment.

We really like Automox and have had a very positive experience using the platform. It has made managing and supporting our environment significantly easier, while giving us the visibility and control we need to manage devices effectively. It has simplified a number of operational tasks for our team, and we are very happy with the value and capabilities it provides.

    Usability
    Automox
I would rate Automox's overall usability a 9 out of 10. The platform is easy to navigate and provides strong endpoint visibility through a centralized console. Creating policies and identifying vulnerable devices are straightforward tasks. Remediation can be deployed in a few clicks, compared to the significant work involved in manual patching. The interface drastically improves efficiency for our IT team.

I did not need to reach out to support often but when I did the answers were relatively correct and they were answered quickly. The only thing I might "ding" their support on was their lack of understanding of OS's different from Windows and especially Linux. Other than that I was satisfied

Support is usually really great at walking you through any steps you need to take when you get stuck on something. There are a few false positives and errors that have come up over the years that required their help to get through. Unfortunately, the steps required to diagnose some problems are more tedious than I think should be necessary. (IE: SQL instances can throw errors that clog up your logs because one plugin affects it in a certain way. The process to diagnose this is to watch timestamps of plugins in a log while monitoring the SQL logs at the same time and using your best guess as to what is causing it.)

    Implementation Rating
    Automox
Implementing Automox successfully starts with a clear strategy for organizing and grouping devices based on operating systems, environments, or business criticality. This ensures that patching and configuration policies can be applied with precision. A phased rollout approach is essential—beginning with a pilot group allows teams to test patching schedules, reboot behaviors, and custom Worklets before scaling across the organization. Leveraging Worklets from the start can significantly boost automation by enforcing security baselines and performing routine system tasks. Integration with existing SOC tools, such as SIEMs, enhances visibility and response time by correlating patch compliance with threat intelligence. Additionally, aligning patching schedules with operational downtimes minimizes disruptions, and consistent monitoring and reporting helps maintain compliance and prepare for audits. Overall, Automox offers a streamlined and effective solution, but its true value is unlocked through thoughtful planning, testing, and integration with existing IT and security workflows.

We chose this tool over Automox because, before Automox, we used Intune, and at the time we were on Office 365, so Intune was almost free. Later, the board decided to move from the Microsoft 365 suite to Google Workspace, and Intune's endpoint management costs were high, so we moved to Automox.

We decided to go with Tenable due to its robust reporting capabilities and competitive pricing vs its competitors. While all tools are very similar in regards to scanning capabilities we prefer Tenable SC's user interface. We also like the option to have both on-prem and cloud with theirs. • Time savings are a huge one - like I mentioned earlier, 3rd party app updating used to be entirely manual.
    • Endpoint management with the dashboard's convenience and ease of readability is very nice.
    • The only negative - more recently, granular per-user options for software update notifications don't seem to be possible unless the user is isolated in their own group.
