Project planning, project management, and tracking. Live git integration and project monitor make it possible to develop software using Agile methodology. Also if you are on a very small budget, then one should not go for this tool. But great support.

MindManager

Well suited for all business planning: strategic, project and brainstorming. I have not used MindManager collaboratively, so I don't know how well it works across multiple team members for project management. Groups always appreciate when I run meeting or presentation in MindManager: all types of employees naturally understand the mapping workflow, although some prefer when I use the Outline View when I share notes.
I use MindManager to successfully manage large projects, from initial ideation and scoping, to discovery and requirements, and to follow the project through to completion and retrospective. Budgets are easy to track inside the app, but the specific day-to-day tasks are usually handled in other applications, leaving the higher-level (milestones) to be tracked in MindManager. I haven't been able to replicate the flexible of applications specifically designed for task management inside MindManager.

Cons

Backlog

  • Price is very high for small teams and department of short term contracts.
  • GUI can be more intuitive.
Sanyam Jain | TrustRadius Reviewer

MindManager

  • No support for team-based project files. Multiple people can only edit simultaneously during pre-scheduled meetings.
  • A project file can be opened by 2 users at the same time, but when they try to save, a conflict is generated and the project file is duplicated with unmergeable changes.
  • Published projects should have some kind of queue on save to ask the owner if they want to also update their changes on the published version.

I feel the main issues of the old Mindjet seem to be gone with the
Corel purchase. With the huge advance of sharing via browser HTML even 1
user can affect many. And, actually, using MM kind of forced my rigid
brain to rethink how I categorize and classify information/projects.
The
idea of paying $69USD for an annual cost is more than fair and a great
model for Corel/Mindjet to keep rolling out improvements!

MindManager is very intuitive. The user interface is not cluttered and the ribbon icons are easy to understand. Several excellent "how-to" videos are available on the MindManager site as well as on YouTube. MindManager starts quickly and the user interface is very responsive. Launching other programs from MindManager such as Excel is very fast and issue free. The browsing feature is lightning fast. The drag-and-drop capability is also very fast and reliable.

I have called technical support a few times. During the COVID Crisis, I called a few times repeatedly due to a rush request. The technical support guy called me back in minutes. He somehow knew that I had called repeatedly and wanted to make sure my issue was resolved immediately

The videos are not well categorized...I had to do a bit of digging to get what I wanted and many videos on older versions. If Mindjet was to improve the titles used that would help.

MM thinks as I think. We share the same logic. I am also very deeply proficient on MM - which makes the thought of switching to another approach less than appealing.I thought Google might be the answer because I am "full Google" on just about everything else that I do for both work, writing, and pleasure... but they have yet to come even close to MM in overall functionality.

MindManager

  • I definitely see it as a timesaver, since you can create maps/items on the fly, without a whole lot of setup at the beginning of a project.
  • since there are a number of people that tend to be visual thinkers, MindManager really helps users to see the big picture, without getting too caught up in all the details.
  • MindManager seems to be a really easy platform to learn, whereas other Project Management platforms have a steep learning curve, and require users to really get in-depth training to take full advantage of the software.
