Overall Satisfaction with MindManager
I use Mind Manager (MM) almost every day. It is my go-to application for Project Management, Planning, scheduling, meeting minutes, Hierarchical structuring, brainstorming, and analytics. I have used MM in major Defence Capital Acquisition Programs and simple web exports for support documentation. I have also been a user of MM for over 28 years, so it has stood the test of time and gets better with every update.
Pros
- Project Planning.
- Documentation Design, with the ability to export to many formats.
- Analytics, such as hierarchical modelling for maintenance analysis.
- Brainstorming tool, especially when used with a Text-to-speech engine such as Dragon Dictate.
Cons
- There should be some more functionality in the Notes window, such as a "Paste Special " Icon in the notes area to maintain format control.
- Although I create many of my own Web export templates, an add-on for web export design would be great, as I regularly create Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP) in HTML export format.
- The ability to sync Map shortcuts between devices would also be welcome. I use MM on three devices, and I have to add or amend the Map list individually. My maps are on OneDrive, so using them should not be that hard if they are cloud-based.
- MM permits plans to be developed quickly and collaboratively.
- Updates and changes can be made as team working on a single view.
- Everyone on the team walks away from a meeting with the same data and message, not just their small piece of the pie.
- Breaking off maps (linked) to give the section owner means everyone can still view the work in progress, but that part of the team can collaborate on their part of the big picture.

MM has allowed me to design and develop programs and projects clearly and visually, which I had never dreamt possible until I started using it. My professional presence has been dramatically enhanced as people know what I can achieve using MM. I have built a whole Vehicle Fleet Structure and managed design issues using MM, which is attached to a Parts Database, with the ability to export that information into usable support documentation.
