Best suited for companies that use the same services across multiple teams, services that might require support at one point. For us, it is very easy to share access to either the IT support team or to me, as the Salesforce administrator, and we can easily take care of the issue and then log out without any hassle.

I would not strongly recommend it for single users, who don't need to share access to others.

Any environment that runs on AD needs ADManager Plus. They have already built-in 95% of the queries and reports you will need. It provides a great window into your AD environment. The interface is very intuitive and for any reports or queries that aren't already packaged the product makes them easy to build

Should be well-suited for a SaaS business organisation as they have a lot of internal applications and need a role-based authentication system between the various teams, improving security and audit log system to account for any breaches. It integrates well with internal applications such as Salesforce and Oracle. Best when need of SSO.

  • Sharing access. It's as easy as 1-2-3 with Bitium, no more hassle with sharing the actual password and then changing it, violating company policies, etc.
  • Lots of apps supported. In all three years since we are using Bitium, we haven't encountered any app that would not be supported by it.
  • Easy to set up strong passwords. Another very easy and intuitive feature: when you are setting up an app, you can ask Bitium to generate an A-level password automatically, that you can therefore use with ease.

  • It is very good in the bulk user creation. With this tool, we can create a number of users in just a few minutes rather than following a long old process.
  • It is good for bulk user account modification. You can select a lot of users and make changes as per the requirements.
  • ManageEngine ADManager Plus is helping us a lot in the report generation of user accounts, passwords, groups, and other reports that are helping us a lot.
  • This tool also helps us with mailbox creation and shared mailbox creation

  • Apps crashing. From time to time, some apps stop working in Bitium and they come back only after a while (1, 2, 8 hrs). We don't have a clear explanation for this yet.
  • Very tied to Chrome. Bitium is almost 'married' to Chrome, making it unusable in other browsers, which is sometimes problematic.
  • Sometimes slow Chrome Add-on. From time to time, the add-on seems so unresponsive that it is easier to go to the web dashboard and log in from there in the app you were looking for.

  • The standard version is useless for a larger company. Most have the Professional level to get the most out of the application but it is worth the cost.
  • Needs better integration with Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.

  • I do have to reset my password quite frequently. However, I don't think there is really a way to improve this, as it's a good security measure.
  • It makes me re-sign in a couple of times a day, sometimes if I haven't used my laptop for a couple of hours, and sometimes just randomly throughout the day.
  • It doesn't remember my devices, either my laptop or phone. so it always calls that out.

As a true Global organization that operates in just about every region of the world, we have yet to have an issue with The Okta Identity Cloud that has impacted our business operations.

From my perspective, for the things that my group uses it for, Okta is very fast. It is as least as fast as the local password database methods that it replaces on our campus enterprise services. I do not believe that it slows anything down at all. In fact, not having to think too much about the login, because they all look the same, probably speeds things up somewhat.

My company already owned ADManager when I started with them. If I remember correctly, it was chosen because it is a fairly cheap tool and because we also use Manage Engine's Service Desk Plus application. ADManager's main competitor (in my eyes) would be PowerShell, now that I have become more proficient with scripting it is rare that I use ADManager except to create users using one of the templates we created. The standardization you get with the templates is really great, it could also be done using an XML file and PowerShell, but why fix what isn't broken?

Okta is far superior in terms of integrations, user interface, automation, and connectivity. Additionally, Okta offers better support and availability, and a more robust solution across every capacity Entra competes in. Okta simply works, whereas Microsoft Entra has a large overhead that is difficult to use when configuring things.

Being a cloud native application, The Okta Identity Cloud is extremely scalable and easy to setup. By integrating into existing directories and applications via standard techniques and protocols, it is very easy to both initially setup and add additional users as required. Once all the necessary integrations are setup, it's a simple rinse and repeat process to onboard additional users (which can be automated with imports as well)

  • Everyone is now required to have A-level passwords, so the overall level of security has increased a lot.
  • Having a secured way of sharing access to different apps, users are now very open to being helped more hands-on by the support teams, not fearing that their credentials might be exposed or later used.

  • Increased user productivity - not fighting with IT all the time!
  • Though there could be a bit more on the 'lost/broken phone' front, the self-service eliminates time that would typically be spent waiting for IT support/admins.
  • An Okta account under a certain domain allows proper access from the get-go, and under certain apps (such as our HRIS), adding members is easy.
  • Improved security - deactivating Okta removes all account access across multiple platforms instantly for leavers.
