I think it's because of the cost.

I evaluated Donut points, but I felt like they were still in the process of creating features that Bonusly already has.
Chose Bonusly
the cost was [the] main factor for us. I think the platforms are very similar. Bonusly is one focused on just employee recognition which is great and concise. Blueboard offers a lot more by way of experiences and gift-giving for recognition but on the pricier side.
Chose Bonusly
I haven’t found any other platform that I would consider in a similar product to Bonusly. When we got involved with the platform, it was the only one of it’s type and we’ve been blown away with it since then.
Chose Bonusly
Bonusly builds a recognition-rich culture like no other reward and recognition software by empowering everyone to recognize their peers, direct reports, and managers. With nifty features and a simple interface, Bonusly is fun and intuitive to use and employees tend to adopt …

The "big name" to me has always been CrewHu. Not sure why they aren't in the listing at the time of this writing but they are far and away the big name from my perspective. This is the main other tool we've seriously considered and I think it highlights the opposite points I've …

I have not used any product other than BRAVO! for recognition. Other than that, it has just been 1 1 communication OR during a meeting; we can provide some kudos to different folks. Although public, in-the-moment recognition may not always be received the way we hoped, some …

The Workhuman representative was very prompt is replying to emails and suggesting alternatives. We felt there would be less of a learning curve in mirroring our current reward management processes by switching to Workhuman. It was a task to train the workforce, but the videos …

Bonusly has provided us a formal space to post recognition. While face to face recognition still occurs, this is a place where staff can post publicly or privately, but a majority choose public. It has been incredibly popular since our implementation. Staff love the ability to earn time off through recognition. That customized redemption is our most popular reward.

It is definitely very well suited for cases like how my company uses it (which is a platform to celebrate colleagues and peers within the company, public or privately—depending on your choice). It feels good to write a review on someone I care about and want to celebrate. Maybe it would be less appropriate if the reviews were to be mandatorily public, but I don't know if that even exists.

Cons
  • There should be more option to redeem points like custom rewards.
  • Then, more digital gift cards are popular for that specific country. We have a global workforce and there are different countries involved.

  • In my experience, current prepaid cards for cash and his platform has the worst support and compatibility for Mexico establishments and commerce hance it is limited the use for Mexico.
  • I think there are too many steps to submit an award
  • In my opinion, we need to refresh and offer more products and services compatible to redeem credit earn on platform

Usability
Bonusly is easy to use and intuitive for anyone familiar with technology and using websites. There is a page where posts are made, and a page where rewards are redeemed. It is very straightforward.

It is really very usable. I cannot find anything to complain about its usability. The UX is done perfectly. Even when I used it first, I figured my way around it really quickly. Now, I cannot remember if I had a 'user tutorial' first time I opened it, but if not, that would maybe be a place for improvement.

Support Rating
I never had any issues with support. It's especially nice to be able to add location-specific rewards.

The company has an in-house customer support team. They can be reached by email or phone. The response time is good and I do not have anything negative to say about them. The good thing is that the hours of operation are 24/7 so one can reach them anytime with questions about reward management.

Return on Investment
  • Employees are encouraged to "live the values" as other members see and recognize their achievements monetarily.
  • This spreads a load of recognition from just leadership/managers across the entire organization, potentially eliminating/reducing a recurring existing task your company is currently doing.
  • Features/freedom of posting in a 'social media' style environment encourages light-hearted comradery between employees.

  • I do not think there is any negative impact. We had a homegrown rewards management tool. It was useful in communicating with employees.
  • It was difficult to run reports in the past and we had to maintain accounts with different vendors. It was difficult as we could only work with a limited number of companies to obtain gift cards.
