If you provide services in the healthcare industry to any extent, I'd recommend looking into what they would have to offer. Great questions to ask are: what is the overall cost for this service and what would my ROI be? Would I stand to benefit more as a company if I implemented this platform early on in my business vs. implementing this later on in the development of my company? If yes, when would be the right time to do it and how?

Templates are customizable and you can take pictures directly into a patient's chart. DrChrono is less appropriate for this reason: they have been working on enrolling my company for Medicare electronic billing for [seven months]. [As a result], I have been unable to bill for any Medicare patients for [seven months]. The only person I have talked to was in India [and] ([the] email address ended in .india). I have had to call Medicare to try to figure out how to complete the enrollment process, [and I ended up with this response from Medicare: "DrChrono needs to [stop being lazy and do something]!." I lost [a] significant [amount of] money. [...]
NextGen is very easy to navigate and simple to learn. The patient scheduling and calendars are very clear and the flexibility to customize the calendars is very helpful. When we are making patient appointments it is clear what times are available for each doctor and office which helps avoid mistakes since we have multiple doctors and offices.

it is easy to create an appointment for a patient. The system is easy to use. It can easily show you when the next appoint is and also has pop up system alerts that the staff can view as to any special things that may need to be done before that appointment is created
Adding charges from an encounter is effortless, creates the claim and is sent to the clearing house and onto the payer. This process is all documented
one of the best features I like is that in the background is that NextGen documents every user's actions as to what is being done to the patient's chart. As a manager I can view what has happen over time with the patient's chart and easily repair what's needed

The program itself shows amazing potential, however, the loading time on some of their functions can take longer than expected.
Given that Android has such a hold over the marketplace, I expected them to develop a mobile app for that system as well. As of today, they only have mobile use of their platform on iOS.
With regards to the second point, some more functional use of the mobile platform would be improve the use of their services for our company needs.

[Onboarding] trainers and tech support do not know the program.
[All] DrChrono calls are from blocked, [unknown], or their personal numbers. [Looking] at [each] caller ID, you have to answer every call because they do not register as DrChrono.
DrChrono [uses] [Google] phone and [I could] not understand what [a] trainer [said] [when I called them]. [I could not hear what the trainer said] over the noise of other conversations on [Google] phone.
[I] [had] absolutely no way of talking to tech support in person.
[Tech] support tickets [are] unanswered.
[They] do not know how to enroll providers to bill Medicare electronically.
[There was] absolutely no accountability.
[The] platform was constantly down [and was very frustrating].
[There was a] consistently, delayed submission.
[Every] day, [I got] an email about a problem that they are working on.
[Weekly] issues for platform [was] addressed for slowness.
Tech support needs [to have professional people answering tech problems, needs to be reliable, and be responsive whenever someone has issues].
[The] tutorial videos [for DrChrono] are from several years [ago] and no longer apply to the [most] current platform layout.
[The] help browser [is] nonfunctional.
[Tech support is not well trained. You can not talk to anyone in person and they often do not answer tech tickets. Onboard trainers do not know their system. Customer often figures out the answers before the training rep. Between the accent and the noise of Google phone, my entire training session was asking her to repeat what she said. When they are rated lowest of the group for tech support, it is for a reason].

I gave this rating because it is truly a system that flows data extremely well within the NextGen ecosystem. Many times you will find systems that do not want to talk to each other from a data perspective, let alone from a capabilities lens. NextGen Healthcare EHR delivers on this data flow without aggregation to where you are deciding on what not to bring into the chart rather than worrying if it is in available.

I am glad I am not always affected by the platform problems. You get daily emails notifying you they are working on slowness, ERA submission problems etc
Pages load quickly and reports are uploaded quickly. It just takes far too many clicks to get anything complete in this program. If a patient wants to pay for something after we have checked them out of their appointment, or wants to make an appointment it is not efficient. In a busy practice like ours efficiency is key and we need to keep the flow going

Tier 1 support is useless. They gather details we've already provided and have no idea how to help us. Techs just call rather than scheduling an appointment which means we are in the middle of something else and our internal IT is unavailable to provide appropriate connection. Webex details aren't provided in advance of the call so it's difficult to get connected timely to have a conversation in real time during the support session. Many issues drag on for months and tickets get closed without resolution. It's a "known issue" is the most unhelpful response to a recurring problem. UGM Learning Lab is perfect because the issues based experts are there! It would be ideal to always be connected like that in real time

When being trained on the billing program, rather than start at the beginning and "TRAIN HOW TO USE THE PROGRAM" the trainer kept asking me what questions I had. I kept saying I don't know what I don't know. Her response was, ok, were done then. You don't have anymore questions. The only thing I could think to do was ask her to explain each item in each drop down box, but she would just read out loud the drop down choices and ask what questions I had. This pretty much sums up their training.
Unfortunately, I have not had experience with other products in this line of profession. Be that as it may, I believe Carecloud has a strong product that allows our company to worry less on logistics and more on providing excellent services to our clients. Without this product, the company would spend more time on these tasks and less time on optimizing our service to others.

TheraOffice has the best tech support and onboarding training. WebPT is also good, but their charting templates lack customization. RehabOptima and Casamba are straight forward and reliable. I am currently stuck with DrChrono.
NG is like no other software I have ever used. I thought if you used one software they are all alike. Not this software, it is totally different but let me tell you very thorough and it also can track anything that anyone has done in a work day. Good auditing system.

Negative: I have lost reimbursement due to the time for tech support to address ticket and the max claims submission time.
Negative: I have [not had any medicare revenue for seven months] due to DrChrono not knowing how to enroll for Medicare Electronic Billing. This issue still has not been resolved.
Negative: Lost time due to the platform being down or running slow.
While in some cases, NextGen Healthcare EHR improves efficiency, most practices are not able to reduce staff, they usually have to actually have .5-1 more employees per physician or midlevel provider. These employee roles change and shift throughout the implementation and into the adaptation process. Those staff generally slowly transition to where they are needed next.
