Cerner HealtheIntent
My honest opinion is if an organization is fully running a Cerner EMR, it is almost not avoidable choice to use HealtheIntent. From performance and consistency views, it performs very well simply because HealtheIntent and Cerner EMR are from the same place. From the cost perspective, it's up to the contract. But in a general sense, it is more cost effective rather than running a separate analytics framework. If an organization is running a mix of Cerner and other clinical IT system, the answer is all but case by case.

Onbase is great for its intended purposes. Any documents we receive we are able to import them to Onbase and quickly access them for future use. Onbase gives the opportunity to provide as much detailed information as possible to the document should we need to pull it for purposes of litigation. We were also able to import data from other systems as a method of retaining previous owner records.

Cerner HealtheIntent
- Metadata management in HealtheIntent should be improved. For example, we could find similar looking data sources (for example, diagnosis tables with similar names) but it was hard to distinguish and know which one is the one in production. It was because several data stewards loaded the same table with a different purpose (with similar tables names). And HealtheIntent doesn't have a metadata "for a test" or "for development", which makes hard to manage versions of one data source.
- To run a SQL in HealtheIntent, there is a time limit of only 10 minutes. Also, there is no delicate configuration of query execution. It may not need a lot of functions like Toad or SQL developer, but what HealtheIntent provides is very limited.
- Similar to the one above, HealtheIntent may need better metadata management for users. It is hard to find a table that I need, even to find out the existence of the table. Basic statistics like the size of a table, # of rows may be helpful for users.

- The Administrator interface, while powerful, is antiquated and has so many options to chose from it can be overwhelming at times trying to find what you need in order to accomplish a task.
- The Unity application is a work in progress and is missing out of some features that are much better in the thick client, such as scanning documents in at high volume. This has improved over time, though.
- Hyland Onbase is a content management platform and, while it does handle ingestion and scanning processes, does require a 3rd party application to really complete the whole package. Hyland's Perceptive platform or Kofax Capture complement it greatly.

You get out of something what you put into it. You reap what you sow! If an organization will spend time setting the solution up, dedicating staff to its development and ongoing support, and always keep the end-user in mind during development, you will have one of the most well-received solutions in your organization. So many organizations that I speak with stand up a solution but don't commit someone to its upkeep and development. It is vital that you have the staff to work within the solution on a daily basis.

This rating is a compromise because I technically have 2 tiers of support.
I go through a re-seller that I give a (10). I send an email and receive acknowledgment within minutes.
For the few times we need to contact Hyland for assistance, it sometimes takes a couple of days to receive a response - and then the first tier might go back and forth a dozen times through email instead of initiating a phone call. And for an advanced issue, they take too long before they forward to an evangelist or someone more knowledgeable that is able to assist. I give that process an (8).

We have had Cerner HealtheIntent for over 10 years and it has been a strong EMR. Other EMRs have been OK. They have just done the job, but haven't lived up to their promise. When a patch is put out for Cerner HealtheIntent, it actually works without bugs. Reaching support for Cerner HealtheIntent is easier and our issues are taken care of in a timely manner.

We selected OnBase because Hyland had purchased the company who we were using previously. We migrated all of our documents and processing workloads to OnBase about 4 years ago and have been using the product since then. We're impressed by the capabilities of the program but are concerned with the increasing cost and how additional features or capabilities require an additional license. The support we have received from the vendor has been good and we feel the the product is meeting our current needs.

- ROI may be depending on the contract. But even if an organization is spending the same money for either homegrown analytics or HealtheIntent, HealtheIntent provides more agility of project or cost spending. If you don't like it you can discontinue anytime.
- The negative one is, HealtheIntent is a new product in Cerner and at this point, it may not be capable of everything like homegrown analytics. The question would be the future of HealtheIntent and will be able to cover what you need soon.
- If an organization is pursuing a standard, generic analytics and reporting (such as the combination of Oracle and Tableau), HealtheIntent is great. If not (for example, running R and d3.js for specific cases), the cost of migration to HealtheIntent will skyrocket.

- Efficiency and increased productivity by making drawings accessible to all engineers and plant personnel across the US and Canada, reduced printing costs, reduced shipping charges to send hard copies, reduced storage of drawings in flat files resulting in a paper free environment, manage renditions of drawings yet make only the latest approved revision available to engineers.
- Need to scan hard copies, need to request only native digital copies and bring others into the digital era, need to organize existing files and prepare for importing. The turnover of project files from other groups is our greatest challenge as we do not always receive an index or files are named with long file names that are cumbersome.
