Integration with ConceptDraw Mindmap makes work breakdown very easy.
We have cross-functional teams where team members often work on different projects in parallel. The multi project management feature has been a blessing over these years.
Another import feature is the availability of many different predefined report generation templates that made it very easy to communicate different aspects of the project to different stakeholders.

Formulas. While not as robust as Excel, the formulas offered in Smartsheet are quite good.
Team collaboration. Multiple teammates can access and work on the same sheet at once.
Templates. The standard templates meet all my needs, and are a great guide for what Smartsheet is intended for and the problems it is best suited for solving.
Project management. It is great for creating, assigning, monitoring, and tracking tasks and projects.

It would be helpful when importing an Excel spreadsheet if the format would remain the same; such as the color of the rows and columns.
Sometimes when viewing rows on the mobile app, they don't align properly when scrolling across.
I would like to see more in-depth training videos.

It definitely meets our needs as far as organizing and archiving our tasks and files. As we train more staff to view it, I see opportunities for more improvement, which I am sure this program can handle. I look forward to seeing continued improvement from Smartsheet on their capabilities and functionality.

Smartsheet is very easy to learn. However, while I have been able to pick it easily, Microsoft Excel and Project super users that I have trained on Smartsheet get bogged down in the differences and can find it frustrating. Explaining the differences ahead of time and why Smartsheet is being chosen instead of a different software seems to counteract those reactions

Overall, I would say that Smartsheet has provided our organization with the support that it has needed in our over 5 years of using the software. We have not had an issue outside of user management and that was handled within adequate time. New features always take their toll on our users, but it is always handled well and the learning curve is never too large.

It's absolutely paramount to take a few minutes to actually play with the software. It's nearly impossible to do anything wrong or make a mistake which cannot be fixed easily. Under the help menu is Live Training option. After you familiarize yourself with the commands, watch the live training for some in depth understanding of how to make the software fit your needs perfectly.

Alternatives Considered

ConceptDraw has a much simpler licensing and pricing model. Perpetual license and ability to use in offline mode was an important criteria for us. Perfect bundle for small and medium business.

Which software we use for project management is often determined by the team we interact with or the client's choices. I prefer Smartsheet for process management due to the ease of setting up alerts and attaching necessary documentation. It was also fairly easy to set up and learn.

It has allowed us to get easily organized and share the progress of projects with the team and some of our internal customers allowing us to deliver information much quicker, and reduce some of the meetings times and back and forth.
It has allowed us to easily collect process and procedure documentation, and tack updates. Previously we had several hundred documents in many different file folders. This allows us to catalog this information quickly add in additional fields/data points for sorting/details/primary users/additional info. We can easily find and share this information, and overall we are much more efficient.
