Hotjar is good for a first pass at understanding user sentiment or locating potential usability issues. There are features such as "rage clicked" which shows recordings or instances when a user rage clicked or had an issue with your site. Hotjar has also been helpful to launch intercept surveys on mobile, desktop, and app, which not all competitor software allow. Hotjar recordings are fun to watch. "Watching Hotjar like Netflix" is a favorite pastime at work.

It is less expensive and more accurate than paying staff to update inventory numbers in Mirakl and then type the orders into an ERP. A product like this is needed. Ideally, Mirakl Connect would improve their product so that it mapped orders into one customer record, but until that time, this is the best option that I have found.

    • Heat mapping is great on Hotjar. It is a good place to start when you are looking at the UX & CRO on your website. You can see the % of people clicking on elements on a page, how far they scroll, and mouse movements.
    • Hotjar is great for session recordings. These record the mouse movements, clicks, pages and scrolls of a user in video format. You can watch these to investigate what works well on a site and identify potential roadblocks and bugs.
    • Hotjar is great as it ensures that users details are anonymous; for instance, if you are watching a session recording, you cannot see what a user types in a form field, as Hotjar blanks this out.
    • Hotjar has a poll function, so you can have polls on your website.

    • Automated processes like uploading inventory numbers frequently
    • Cymbio is able to map the dropship orders to the company customer record in Shopify and does not create a new record for every customer (like Mirakl Connect does)
    • I like that the orders come through to Shopify without being marked as "Paid". I find this accounting easier to manually "pay" them in my system when I actually receive the payment from the vendor (this is another key difference between Cymbio and Mirakl Connect)

    Cons
    Contentsquare
    • Hotjar is primarily used for web-based experiences. Not that easy to use on mobile apps.
    • I'd love to see Hotjar integrated with Google Analytics for an even deeper view.
    • Hotjar is primarily used by smaller organizations...pricing can get steep quickly for larger organizations.

    • Customer Service. It would be great if they had service hours that matched business hours in the USA, but even accounting for the time difference, the customer service is not quick or friendly.
    • They take away services. I am not sure if they hook you with extra services and then take them away over time or if it just happened to be that I started at a time they offered a lot more for the same price. When I started, they completely handled setting up a new retailer. Then they would set up the data, but I had to reformat all of images. Then they did nothing to set up a new retailer. Not only do you now have to set up in Mirakl all on your own, when you send them the file from Mirakl to map, you then have to go into Cymbio and upload the prices as well - a whole new extra step.
    • A more user-friendly customer interface. In my opinion, there is not much of a user interface at all. I think the interface for pricing uploads is terrible and cumbersome and they are not open to any feedback about that. It would be great if you could directly change a price, but even to change one price, you have to format an upload file. And that's all you can really do there. All other requests to add to assortments, etc are done though what looks like Google forms.

For small companies with limited user testing budgets, ClickTale serves as a useful user testing tool. When I cannot get the funds for in depth user testing, I always know that I have a baseline of information I can rely on

It is fairly easy to use, easy to explain, and easy to learn even for a non-techie like me. I admit I was a little intimidated when it was recommended by my developers, but I learned afterwards that there really was nothing to worry about. My experience has been awesome so far!

In my opinion, not easy to use. Based on my experience, they started with employees only directly using the system. Having an app to have customers log in and do tasks on their own seems like an afterthought that has not been well executed. However, once you have these things in place, you really don't have to mess with it very often. If you change your prices frequently, it might be more of an issue.

Hotjar is a SaaS-based company, and as such has a good support service. Users can quickly submit support tickets through Hotjar's online portal. Enterprise customers get access to additional support members and have SLAs to support their larger, more complex needs. Overall, Hotjar is extremely reliable and I've never had to reach out to customer support.

ContentSquare [(Clicktale)] is going deeper on UX understanding than traditional web analytics tools. You can truly understand how a page is used (where users click or even miss click, on which part of the page they are spending most of their time, if some links are clicked but bad positioned on the page...), and that's a thing you can't really measure trough a traditional web analytics tool.

Mirakl Connect created a new customer record for every order. This was messy, difficult to figure out which customers went with which retailer and I was concerned about having my retail partner's customer data mixed in with my own. For me, this was a deal breaker which was such a bummer since this is a free product!

    • Our UX team can now use hard data to back up and validate design decisions that we make. Our role as usability experts is becoming more respected and integral to business objectives because we now have data that can back up our field of study and prove that our roles are demonstrably useful and necessary.
    • HotJar allows our small team of 3 UX designers to get research data as if we were a much larger team. Instead of painstakingly using our time to do guerrilla research, endless user observations, and other types of manual testing, we can now get a significant portion of our data from HotJar.
    • Using HotJar is actually giving our team a sense of excitement and enjoyment in our day-to-day usability work. Instead of seeing UX as a chore, HotJar is making data gathering and analyzing more fun, because we can see tangible results from a much larger pool of user/user-data than we could in the past.

    • Better customer service because our inventory is accurate
    • It pays for itself in saved staff time compared to doing all of these steps manually
    • It is much more accurate to have the data transmitted electronically, there is no concern for mistyping
