COZYROC

COZYROC is great if you have a number of sources or destinations where vanilla SSIS either does not provide connectors, they are difficult to work with, or they are not fully featured. SFTP is a prime example. Almost any web service is another. It also includes some nice helper components, such as script task plus. This speeds up the development of script tasks by making the configuration easier. That said, it is not a silver bullet for all your SSIS woes. I've found that none of the SSIS 3rd party components spans all my needs and generally end up running a couple of different ones to cover all the functionality required.

Matillion

Matillion is great for handling bulk and 'delta' loads to your warehouse, i.e. updating the warehouse with only those records updated since the last execution of the pipeline. The components and Python scripting provide a huge amount of flexibility in what the pipeline does, but you do need to have the expertise to know how to implement it properly.Matillion has been less good at extracting data from APIs. The functionality was found to be complex and it was unclear how to manage things like pagination and rate limiting in API calls.

Pros

COZYROC

  • CRM Dynamics connection
  • Sharepoint list connector
  • SFTP component

Matillion

  • The workspace is drag and drop, which makes it intuitive and easy to use.
  • Server creation and management is robust. We haven't had to worry too much about it once we got it created.
  • The job scheduler is very simple and intuitive.
  • Matillion allows you to run Python, which grants almost unlimited flexibility, even without using any other components.

Cons

COZYROC

  • Looking for Office 365 API connector and source task.
  • Looking for Share Connection with multifactor login.
Venkata Ramana Potluri | TrustRadius Reviewer

Matillion

  • Limited selection of instance sizes - Larger organizations and groups my need to set up multilple instances depending on estimations on concurrent users.
  • Lack of complete github, gitlab, or other source control integration - it has internal versioning but it is limited. Manual job exports currently don't lend well for useful DIFFs comparison when using those technologies.
  • Needs more options for authentication and security - User creation is very manual and can be tedious and difficult to manage for larger installations.

With the current experience of Matillion, we are likely to renew with the current feature option but will also look for improvement in various areas including scalability and dependability. 1. Connectors: It offers various connectors option but isn't full proof which we will be looking forward as we grow.2. Scalability: As usage increase, we want Matillion system to be more stable.

Pretty good UI, especially for a completely web-based system. Source control integration is a bit clunky at times, but overall makes code versioning and branching much more simple, since it's largely within the same context as the rest of the code. Finding some core settings can be difficult - they're just not where one would expect them to be.

Their support is fast and responsive. Their devs work on resolving the issues quickly. We usually will have a release of a fix within a few days.

For most of users support can provide needed help. And it is always in a really short time frame. In some really advanced cases there was necessary to include highly tech people and there was a lot of back and forth. Because I have a case that is not resolved for more than a year and the bug is based on initial bad implementation (Google AdManager component) I would suggest that sometimes don't rush to publish something that is not ready.

Alternatives Considered

COZYROC

We run both Task Factory and COZYROC. The two sets certainly have crossover but are also complementary. Neither solution provides coverage for every use case. We have also reviewed ZappySys, which again has significant crossover between the two, but some useful outlier functionality as well, such as a robust SOAP component if you have the misfortune of still dealing with that protocol.

There's a number of systems not available to enter in here that we also took a look at: AWS Data pipeline, Airflow, Xplenty, etc. The reason we chose Matillion is for the balance of features (ability to connect into cloud data sources like Jira), a simple interface to put together Data pipelines (that required little to no coding), and a reasonable price point. Matillion is pretty unique in that it hits a balance of all three of those requirements.

Instance size can be upgraded or downgraded with few clicks and hourly billing rate will change immediately. No need to restart Matillion instance. Matillion Enterprise edition has several benefits and will be activated automatically by configuring ">=m4." large instance size
