Investor Management Services (IMS) headquartered in Charlotte offers the IMS Platform, an investor relations management platform that provides a more transparent reporting and documenting process for investors, with distribution workflow and waterfall calculator as well as waterfall audit.
DocSend works really great if you want to send out a doc to a prospect and want to track when they open it and what content they view. The reporting on this works really well and I've been happy with this functionality. Where it falls short is when you're trying to use it for a live demo utilizing the join.me integration. There are a lot of issues when you try to switch your screen and it only works 2/3s the time. I'd prefer an all-in-one solution instead of this Frankenstein model.
Customer Service, Project Managers and our personal contact have been exceptional. Since the software is able to do so much and there are so many options the Dynamo team has been invaluable to us. Our company would not have been able to double in size over the last 4 years if it wasn't for Dynamo Software.
In our specific use case we used IMS to manage the investor acquisition process and manage reporting going forward. Basically, it's a powerful, real-estate focused CRM that understands our pain points and issues. Additionally, it was cost efficient for our organization since we weren't using any of the waterfall technology, nor did we have extensive complicated ownership structures that we needed to import. We were essentially starting from the beginning, with very few implementation needs. In this situation, the software worked perfectly. We have been very happy with the service and technology. That said, if you have an extensive investor relations apparatus and need something that requires a tremendous amount of implementation (i.e. an entire, existing, investor management system) it may be a more difficult process
DocSend has a newer feature called Spaces, it lets you place multiple files into a single "deal room". Unfortunately for us, we need it to support nested file structures for larger content sets. Their support team says this is on the way.
I'd like to be able to change the icons for links add to Space, currently, they're a default icon.
Navigating the UI is just a bit laborious, it feels like it should be easier to get to link creation since that is what you're doing 90% of the time you go to the site.
Some functionality is clunky: Mailing Campaigns, Passthrough Integration, Dynamo Accounting Complex Transactions. At times it seems functionality is rolled out too soon.
Onboarding of new clients for us seems a bit haphazard. We just added a new tenant with CRM, Dynamo Accounting and the Investor Portal and we weren't exactly sure what the state of the new tenant should be based on what was copied over from a prior tenant or how much Dynamo Software time or support we would have to customize the new tenant.
At times it seems Dynamo Software's terminology with relationships either isn't intuitive or is repetitive creating additional time/confusion when modifying workspaces, portal set-up, etc.
I give it this rating because I think it could be easier to use. While there are sooo many different ways to use the software, it can be very intimidating and confusing, even when you feel confident in what you know how to do. I feel like everytime I want to add something new or do something out of our norm I have to ask for help
DocSend is more convenient than DocuSign if you are already using Dropbox, otherwise a lot of these solutions come down to pricing and preference on user interface. For us, DocSend was great until our needs changed to needing a more sophisticated contract management tool. With further integrations and API accesses in the future, I think it will be easier to have all systems communicating and working together .
Dynamo Software makes the most sense from a cost perspective for available offerings to our clients. The integration between the CRM, Accounting module and investor portal. We also appreciate the ability to customize the investor portal to the client's request all within the same license.
We evaluated IMS against Juniper Square and the Crowdstreet white label platform. IMS came to the top for us because of our specific use case (i.e. less implementation needs, primarily investor acquisition and investor management). Also, at the time, IMS was way more cost effective for the functionality that was offered compared to its immediate competitors
