IBM PureSystems vs. Scale Computing Platform

I honestly don't see an area where the PureSystem couldn’t fit in and be of a great use due to its ability to integrate a multitude of technology, (some that are outdated even) to create a stable network platform. I think if a corporation is seeking to upgrade their system but is financially disadvantaged they couldn't make a better investment for more bang for the buck than buying the IBM PureSystem.

Scale is best suited to environments that do not have excessive external or proprietary peripherals. Integrating with tape drive backups or robot tape libraries can be problematic. The most effective use of Scale systems is for companies running multiple instances of the same operating system. The hypervisor's code/file-sharing nature does an excellent job managing new instances while keeping the increase in storage to a minimum.

• Data reliability- by monitoring and increasing load balances PureFlex has made data and applications available more readily across departments.
• PureFlex- has increased data integrity. By insuring that data is transported with greater fluidity, PureFlex has increased our data integrity by many folds. By helping us to be more precise in our data delivery, our customers have been more satisfied.
• PureFlex- Integration within and scalability has been seamless. We have not experienced very many issues and the ones we have experienced were readily mitigated with the expert help of IBM technicians.

• Efficiency - Lower power use since moving to a hyperconverged environment.
• Scalability - Adding additional hardware is easy, and increasing things like the amount of RAM or number of cores is easy.

• Efficiency- PureSystems has enabled our users to work more efficiently with customer orders, providing the requested data in a far less turn around time than ever before.
• Scalability- We have already have had to scale up our memory storage due to a successful agreement with a data warehouse and it was a seamless effort completing the project with the assistance of expert IBM technicians at our call when we had any questions.
• Combinability- PureFlex's ability to pretty much accept any other technology and incorporate it into a single network has saved us a tremondeous amount of money and time to stable platform.

• Ability to replace smaller storage drives with larger ones, rather than requiring the addition of an entire node for storage increases
• Different UI views for VMs: ability to minimize certain groups and have that persist through log-ins

Since I have had no issues with downtime; easier management of my cluster and the ability to lower the number of devices in my Infrastructure, I will gladly renew my support contract with Scale Computing HC3 and upgrade my equipment with them when it comes time for it.

Everything you need to do is point-and-click easy. If you are the kind of admin who wants to edit every config file and endlessly customize your environment, then Scale may not be for you. On the other hand, if you just want it to work really well, and do what they told you it will do, then Scale is the ideal system.

Never had an outage or an error. Once a hard drive failed, but Scale kept on working flawlessly without interruption.

Performance has been just as outstanding as reliability. I have never experienced delays in any aspect of usage.

They are very knowledgeable about their own products and hardware addressing my concerns or issues very quickly and on the first contact. Calls concerning VMware migrations and Acronis backup took a little more time for more complicated issues, but the Scale Computing Platform techs were diligent to stay on top of issues until they were resolved. Most of my issues have been with the initial setup/migration.

The implementation was very easy. We had Scale support on standby and they were ready and eager to help if needed. The process went so fast the employees in the organization did not even know it was done.

Well there was a lot going for the vCE block systems we considered the 200 and 300 series. These two series seemed to overlap each other just about right where we are at in our IT needs. The 200 series leaned more to the less side of our needs and the 300 leaned to the farside of our needs. The vCE didn't appear to be compatible with a lot of our current configured components, while the PureSystem did. So that was the real clincher for us. We spent maybe a week integrating everything and testing to insure things had integrated as expected but it was well worth the effort and time.

We previously used Microsoft Hyper V and VMWare and, before that, a room for single-purpose servers. My satisfaction with Scale is because it is a more straightforward product to install and use; it has incredible speed and reliability. In the past, getting support from Microsoft was labor intensive, and with VMWare, there was a language accent barrier.

HC3 is one of the best products I have purchased for our district. It is unbelievably reliable to the point that they shoot themselves in the foot on support contracts.

• We were seeking a means to better leverage what we had without rebuilding the entire system, the PureSystem enabled us to do just that.
• At first we were very hesitant of the system's robustness, it was to be honest a little intimidating, however with IBM always ready to hear our question no matter how small they might of seemed, we got rolling very quickly, I won't say effortlessly but very quickly.
• When it came time on short notice that we needed greater storage and flexibility to incorporate some new application, the new system performed very well with incorporating the new applications and the increase of storage.

• Scale can be administered by a tier one technician so cost of labor is reduced.
• If there is a problem like a cyber attack, the savings kick in with the least amount of downtime.
